I've seen it mentioned that the steering wheel is capacitive as it relates to hand detection for dream drive pro.

My resting position is right hand loosely griping the bottom right corner of the steering wheel. Even with a light grip on the wheel when I'm in DDPro I get the nag to put my hands on the wheel which prompts me to either 1) do a slight tug or 2) prevent the nag by gripping harder than I'd prefer and actively trying to ever so slightly resist the lane correction so that it knows I'm holding the wheel.

What are people experiencing? When I hear capacitive I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that it would detect the slightest touch without needing any force on the steering input.

There is a setting for this in the settings. Just to double check, make sure it’s set.

Did you turn on Steering Wheel Capacitive Control? Although it says it’s for the keypad controls, maybe it enables the steering wheel too:

This setting has been on but I toggled off and on to see if it changes the behavior some how

Am I meant to have to be touching the thumb pad to trigger the capacitive touch sensor for dream drive or is it the entire wheel which is leather wrapped?

My resting position does not have me touching the thumb pad.

It’s the whole wheel I believe but I found 1 or 2 fingers doesn’t cut it. If I’ve got 3 anywhere on the wheel I’m never nagged.

Yeah, mines not do that. Thumb is always hooked on and either a 3 finger or 5 finger hold. Plenty of skin contact and fingers all over the wheel and it nags.
