Just received a strange phone call from Lucid Service asking to send a tech to my car first thing tomorrow morning to inspect and or fix a an issue with the rear suspension. "We recommend" you DO NOT drive the vehicle. I had to pull that part of the person calling as he quickly made that statement after saying well "it could be nothing" and the alert we got about it is vague, then he raced thru the statement ".
The service ticket states:

Out of the blue "stop driving the car" is very concerning. Oh btw I am at work and was planning to head home soon. They offered me a link to a Lift service. Car is staying put out of an abundance of caution.

Any else getting this call?

Just curious. Do you have the Dynamic Handling Package?

It sounds like it flagged in their fleet error logging, and they caught it remotely, and want to inspect and fix the issue. Others have gotten calls about their batteries or drive units and such in the past.

Personally I think it’s neat they can diagnose remotely pre-failure.

I can only imagine getting this message late on a snowy / rainy Sunday night, 3.5 hours from home, with a loaded car and 3 tired kids after a ski weekend. A Lucid is looking less and less likely for me.

Give them a few more months to iron out early issues, then reevaluate. Any interesting new EV, and many new ICE vehicles, are going to have a few glitches.

Counterpoint: imagine your rear suspension going out while driving home on that snowy/rainy Sunday! I'd rather a call than not.

The thing that's not clear here is if this is a prefailure notification from telemetry, or if this is a recall based on manufacturing time/data. If the former, that's super cool. If it's the latter... well, still cool that they called, but shows more of a problem.

So you'd rather have a vehicle from a company that does not try to proactively identify potential issues before they become catastrophic failures? Put it a different way, would you rather have the car fail in the middle of that 3.5 hour drive and be stuck on the side of the highway or worse?

well nutz.

I have another demo drive with my SA tomorrow, as mine will be arriving in a couple of weeks. I need to ask him about these TSC's and whether it will affect delivery. Mine does have the Dynamic Handling package.

I think it's more the rising pile of issues than Tom Cruise sending out PreCog texts.

or a software glitch like the "Frunk Open" glitch that disables the entire car, even when the frunk is actually closed.

If it were a recall we’d have gotten a recall notice.

…how is this relevant?

I'm saying maybe its not really an error, I have seen ones that also cleared themselves, even my tesla does it if the light hits the cameras right it will say there's a malfunction, but there isn't one. Not saying he shouldn't look into it, but I'm saying it might not mean the wheels are actually going to fall off.

EDIT: oh this was a phone call?? I think they call these "silent recalls" then and its pretty normal, Ford used to swap out transmissions when you'd go in for an oil change, for example.

I agree with your thought but since you're asking - no I'd rather get a vehicle that does not fail to begin with.

Not if it only affected a particular time period or shift. Things like torque wrench settings are logged on a modern production line, and they can pretty easily audit to narrow out-of-spec units and do targeted recalls. (Or you can use the wrong double-sided sticky tape to hold on all your trim, like some other manufacturer....)

Then a relatively new company with first gen models probably isn’t for you. Yes no one wants to see this happening. We’re all clearly fans being on these forums and want the company to succeed. But if you want absolute reliability along the lines of a company that’s been around for 100 years, you need to expect that you’re not going to get that here and frankly it’s unreasonable to expect that. We’re the “pioneers” when it comes to this company and you have to take the good with the hiccups. As already stated, at least they are proactive about it.

yeah you would rather not know about and crash 1 hour into your drive home ... shit like this happens, even to very well establish premium car brands. And I am sure they are overly cautios with alarms like this because they really really need to avoid to be in the news for something like that.

My RS6 had rear differential failure at 2000miles, my X5M had a recall on the integrated braking system which we were told you might lose braking power and should get this fixed. My 2014 GT3 had the entire engine replaced because they recalled all of them since some burned down in the beginning of the 991 series.
