Although I was bummed to receive a bunch of turtles and have to hand the car back to Lucid for service, the KoP studio made the process as easy as possible. They offered me an Air loaner or a 7-seater rental from the Enterprise a few blocks away from my house. Need the seating capacity, so went with the rental. The rental was available the same day I called Lucid to schedule service. The next day, Lucid sent out a flatbed truck to collect the GGT from West Philly and bring it back to KoP. The studio manager sent daily updates - diagnoses, ordered parts, parts arrived, etc. Lucid wound up replacing the FDU, and loading 3.3.8 and updating the FOB firmware. When repair was complete they scheduled time to drive the GGT back to me. They said I can return the rental car tomorrow morning, didn’t have to do it tonight since the GGT didn’t come back until late afternoon. Overall, the KoP studio was fantastic and I can’t think of anything else that would have made the process any easier. Nice work, team!

I just got my car back from KOP last night and now that I’ve seen their work I will second that they did a great job. I don’t think it ever took them more than 5 minutes to respond to an email and it looks like they did a great job fixing up trim issues I had on the nose and spoiler, in addition to the main issue with a turn signal.

Also not sure if this was luck or what, but both the transport there and back were in enclosed trailers.

Sorry if this is obvious. What is an FDU? Seems like this an often faulty part. Thanks, all.

It’s not “often faulty” but if it does fail, it is more likely to happen at the beginning of the unit’s life.

Also, it isn’t the motors failing, but an electronic component; this bodes well for the longevity of the motors themselves once this electronic component issue gets resolved.

And to be very clear: it is a small number of vehicles that have or will have the issue, to my knowledge, which is why there hasn’t been a recall.

Thanks for opining. “Often times” comment was more anecdotal from posts I’ve seen here and other forums.

For sure; I get it. People don’t go to forums to proclaim “everything is fine,” on average. :)

That said, only Lucid knows the true numbers.

Agree, though I do wish more people did post about their positive ownership experience. Thanks again for responding.

Lucid customer service is exemplary! Yeah, there are those few that are off, but 95 % of the time, they provide excellent service.
