ADIOS LUCID: I really hate to make this post but after only two months of ownership, my '23 Lucid AT is gone.

If somebody who threatened to give away his free tshirts to homeless people to shame Lucid into giving him different size shirts (while dehumanizing homeless people for some reason?), is calling me childish I mean come on. I obviously don't take myself too seriously.

In the end this is literally in the "farewell" section, and people are comisserating and somewhat chiding eachother about Lucid quality, but its all thread relevant really. I think its crazy to get rid of a car that fast. Short of a 200k Taycan, you're not going to get a better EV. once I realized the original poster only owned his car for two months I mean what else is there to talk about? That's crazy, I mean yeah service issues and software yada yada but two months and lose 5k? I thought he meant 2 years! But it is literally all dialog relevant to the thread, with some personal insults sprinkled in here and there for some reason.
I think the issue is that you’ve become a bit of a caricature here. You continually post the same complaints and issues even after Lucid (Margie) offered to work with you directly to resolve your concerns. This leaves folks to believe that this is more about you than the forum and other owners. It serves no purpose.

Lucid has, for some reason, chosen to respond here and make it the most effective way to get help (eg: lease fiasco)

Idk what to tell you except you can click on my profile and just click “ignore” and you’ll never see me again.

However, I can read the room and I will log out until next week. Once this latest fiasco is fixed I’ll update my thread and be done with it.

Cheers gentlemen!

Please don't take the feedback that way; all of us really do mean well. All we're asking is to exercise a little more discretion and/or restraint, that's all.

As a side note, I watched the interview with the lead software folks at Lucid on the Savagegeese Youtube channel and I felt even worse about the future. They don't appear to be people who like driving cars and understand what it means to be driver focused. They seemed much more interested in using the screens for entertainment and creating a "mood".

Lucid please hire software engineers who like driving cars!
I have been thinking for quite a long time that Lucid's software engineers probably don't drive Lucid cars. There are so many small annoyances that they would've surely fixed if they used the screens. For example, when I press the icon for "maps", it shows me the map app, then it always goes back to the previous screen. I have to press it again. Or, when I get close to my house, it shows me the Homelink screen with the garage name and "Add New Link..." button. I mean, I am sure that you can't and you don't want to add a new link while driving the car.

Small things that annoy me every day. If I had access to the source code, they would've been fixed on day 1.

I bought an AGT in December 2025. My experience just does not match those that of the unhappy commenters. Lots of experience with various top brand special editions even some modified or custom by the brand itself. And some sold for more than they cost. That is : really good cars.

The AGT EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST - and that is > six decades of being principle driver.

The only downside? My wife loves the AGT so much, she insists on buying a GGT …ASAP. I do have some anxiety about its early foibles - but also some eagerness for its outstanding driving.

For those who think I may be easy to please: I did make two other owners happy: I orphaned.

I think the timing is now right: the fixes have made for better transport reliability.

I am near a service/delivery center and have my own personal survey of owners both new and returning. And live in a very friendly peopled midwestern place. Sample is Random. Reasonably sized, and uninfluenced by the very social media phenomena.

Sample? Alas not definitive but my eagerness significantly outweighs my anxiety.
I have the perfect solution for you. Buy an used AIR. You will get a great deal as there are many low mileage cars selling for less than 50% new. There will not be a learning curve as you already own one, so many quirks/issues will be quickly solved. After a sufficient time when you feel the Gravity has "matured", so can sell the Air with a much smaller hit on resale value...Heck, you may even be able to buy a lightly used Gravity from a disgruntled purchaser at a significant discount 🤔😏😂

I understand that the comments on this forum are subjective and largely based on anecdotal experiences. With that in mind, my Lucid experience was less than optimal, so I bailed. It is that simple.
I am still impressed with the Lucid vehicle design and technology, especially the improvements in efficiency, and motor design. I might even have another one some day, assuming they survive the next two years or so.
I think the real issue for me, and especially for my wife, came down to trust. We just didn't trust the car.
I tried to attach a couple of screen shots here from my last trip to illustrate the trust thing. But anyway, I left home with a full charge showing 411 miles, on a 347 mile round trip. On the way back, when I was about 40 or so miles from home, the remaining "battery miles" showed 41 while indicating that I should have 38 miles remaining when I reach my destination. That's when my wife had her first range anxiety attack. It was kind of funny actually.
So my advice, use your battery percentage setting instead of miles remaining and don't think for a minute that you are going to get the full rated battery range.
It might be less stressful. As always, YMMV.

411 is EPA range. This is standard across the industry. In order to achieve EPA range you should recreate the EPA test environment on your drive. This isn’t unique to Lucid and is true for all EVs or for that matter all vehicles. If you put your destination into the NAV it will show actual range and suggested charging locations.

Same for me, I'm most annoyed by smallest bugs which I'm convinced are simple to fix, despite many here trying to convince me otherwise
When a smallest, simplest bug goes unfixed for many release cycles it speaks volumes about people working there. It's not about technology, it's about carelessness of people and it can only be fixed by replacing them with better people. The problem is that better people are hard to find and even harder to convince to join the company when they see seasoned executives fleeing in droves. I'm still hopeful that Emad will pull a miracle in software quality improvement.

MorganB, Thank you for your expertise.

IMO the biggest killer for range is speed. EPA tests at the speed limit. In most parts of the country, no one drives at the speed limit and ten miles over doesn't even get you a ticket. Out here it is typical to see 65 as the speed limit on a highway and most cars going 75-90. Keeping up with traffic kills range. Fortunately I don't care about range but for those who do, that is why your range is so much less than the EPA number.

Another point I should make. I was a Tesla Model S owner for a three year lease, '17-'20. So, I spent about $36,000 and gave it back. That's just the nature of a lease and you know that going in. During that time, I never even visited a service center and everything worked as described.
While I was back in an ICE car for a few years, I watched the development of the Lucid. Under Peter Rawlinson's tutelage, I witnessed an exciting new generation of EVs come to fruition. The Lucid promised to be everything a Tesla should be, but better in every way. And it was, not only on paper but in testing as well. I knew they would be overpriced initially so I waited for a pre-owned AT and was not disappointed. Then the gremlins started showing up. Someday, maybe all the bugs will be sorted out, but as for me, been there done that.
My Lucid Touring is the best car I ever bought. Software 95% there. Maybe an occasional delay in doors opening once a week, but otherwise exceptional vehicle and greatly improved software.

I drove a Merc GLE a few days ago, Squeaks, poor performance, rough engine. Enjoy your dinosaur!

Previous owner of a Tesla Model S, Jaguar F type, Lexus IS, Jaguar Fpace, Acura TSX, Tesla Model 3……..

Yeah these guys aren’t the next Tesla.

They’re the next Fisker.
Nope, completely disagree, Fisker had more serious drivetrain and software issues. CFO was the CEO’s wife- no clue how to run finances. They actually had buyers uncashed checks lying around with no clear process to clear the funds. It was a disaster in back office management. And they couldn’t get financing. Lucid has the backing of an oil rich country. Will never go bankrupt.

Companies go bankrupt if they can’t get funding, Lucid will never be in that position.

As pointed out in the thread discussing Consumer Reports, CR buys their own vehicles, and so manufacturers have no opportunity to ensure their vehicle is extra-special quality controlled. And while there's a part of me that is amazed they're letting press people have loaner vehicles at this stage, I'm sort of glad that they're doing it. The alternative would essentially be to lie to the public about the quality of the vehicle. At least now, most purchasers are hopefully aware of the quality issues, and knowingly rolling the dice. 🤣
CR testing a car that they didn’t buy

The glitches finally got to me. I kept thinking the next software update would fix it, but no.
The bluetooth key fob that kept locking and unlocking the doors while I was anywhere near the car. I turned that feature off, but then the handle push trick and/or key fob click was hit-or-miss; The random blank screen problem was scarry, even though it always came back on after I pulled off the road and did the brake-X-microphone reset. Too many times for that to be acceptable. The Dream Drive Pro, that I anxiously awaited activation for, turned into a wrestling match, when it worked at all, and randomly announced that it was "not available in this area" only to reconnect a minute later on the same highway, then cautioned me to pay attention while I was consciously and conspicuously, sternly looking ahead (after making sure the camera could see me);

Facial recognition upon start up was also a hit-or-miss, green check or red X, but it didn't have any effect on the operation of the car anyway; Of course I couldn't put the car into drive until it adjusted all my personal settings, following my wife's last trip; Speaking of that issue, the car almost always recognized, and adjusted the settings to her instead of me, the driver, when we were together, forcing me to re-establish my profile and wait. Or, make her stand 30 ft from the car while I got behind the wheel. (Could be that it connected to the key fob with the strongest battery, but that's just my guess given the bluetooth format issue)

Lane keep assist was way too hurky-jurky; Apple car-play regularly disconnected; Air conditioner sounded like a V-8 revving under the hood; and, speaking of sound, the whining noise from the front motor is completely unacceptable. I understand that has been somewhat improved on the '26, but I'll never know.
Oh, and lets talk about the rated 411 miles on a full charge! No amount of hyper-mile driving with 19" wheels, flat terrain, beautiful fall weather on my regular 350 mile round trip Houston to Austin could get me back home without a Buc-ees stop for extra miles.

FORTUNATELY, mine was a pre-owned '23 with only 8,000 miles, for which I paid $50,000 less than sticker. (Sorry for new Lucid buyers) I only lost another $5K to get rid of it.
So, good luck guys. It's back to ICE Mercedes for me. Oh, and by-the-way; I sold my Lucid stock before the recent fall so at least I made a couple of bucks on that deal.
Out.
Post like this make me think……me me me, why post? Why the need to rub this into other Lucid owners faces? Who cares if you bought or sold the stock. So you depreciated 5k, other new car buyers lost 50k, so what?

Go live your life, no need to go around forums posting about your life…..give me a break!

I think Lucid says i dont care or else key issue have been fixed by now or we may have got news keys already and they might have not repeated same thing with gravity. I would partner with some one having working keys rather than say ohh wow we will be first level 4 and we cannot get in the car at the same time 😆
Though I was upset about keys, my keys works 99% perfectly now. The latest update fixed it.

And Lucid does care, it’s just taking them a while to get the Gravity keys fixed, not acceptable to release a car like that, but I wouldn’t say they don’t care. Its suicidal not to care.

I don't think they are trying to rub it in other owners faces. I think they are trying to get back at Lucid by damaging their reputation.

Owner of 2024 Pure here. I never carry the key fob; I always use my phone. I have the key card in my wallet as a backup, but I have never had to use it. I often have to wake my phone up, especially when I haven't been using it, such as when I'm shopping. If I do that, 99% of the time it works. The remaining 1% of the time, I have to open the app, and the car immediately unlocks.
I carry the fob
because what will I give the tow driver if I ever have the need, or the valet if I ever let them park my car?

Not going to give them my phone, and the wallet card is fussy and needs the code.

I was an early-adopter of the Lucid, and it used to be that the car would sense the fob/phone and repeatedly go thru the lock/unlock cycles when I was near. Bobby talks about this in his video. Lucid fixed this problem with an update: you can now turn off the passive lock/unlock to prevent this from happening, and simply press the driver's door handle when you want to enter the car.

I do have random delay problems with the mobile key app on my phone, which is another reason to
let the fob be with you.

Either way, not a good way to live a life.
