Dream drive (or any drive assist) won't turn on

I just bought a used lucid air gt.

The car is equipped with dream drive pro (confirmed with previous owner and the lucid service center that serviced the vehicle).

Any time I hit the drive assist/cruise button... Adaptive cruise comes on as an option (and the hands free icon doesn't even come on). I click on the same button and it just turns it on/off (the adaptive cruise).. Doesn't switch to the other. What could cause this?

Extra info:
- I'm in Canada.. I assume dream drive pro works in Canada? Can someone confirm? I was literally on the Trans Canada highway trying it
- car is updated to 2.8.9 and all dream drive options are on
- I've called lucid and they have no clue and said they'll look more into it and call me back some other time (they are nice.. Just a really disappointing answer).

I randomly noticed this morning that Highway Assist is now working in Canada! I was on the QEW west of Toronto. It shuts off immediately when exiting the highway (really jarring shutoff if you’re not ready for it), but it’s finally here. Only used it for one exit so didn’t have a chance to find out how good it really is. Hope it can restart from full stop on the highway during traffic.

Just a basic step in finding out what works if the dream drive doesn't:

Are you able to turn on the cruise?

You said the "option" is on but are you able to operate the cruise at a certain speed like 20mph?

Yes, I used adaptive cruise without issue

Hold the button

If I hold it, it does nothing. If it's off, and I hold it, it just turns on adaptive cruise. If it's on and I hold it, it turns off adaptive cruise. :/

Thanks for the reply. It's good that you can use the cruise fine.

The next thing is DreamDrive. For me I have to wait for the message and picture instructing that Drive Assist is available and hold the left lower cruise button to activate it then let go.

After that, if I disabled it, I can get it back just by activate the cruise.

It's possible that your highways are not prepared for Drive Assist and you may have to wait for it to come to your highways so the message "Drive Assist is available" would pop up in an undated future.

Lucid should proactively work with owners so they don't have to bring their cars in a Service Center just because the highways are not HD mapped while there is nothing wrong with their cars. A map of which highways work in Canada will be nice.

Mercedes L3 Drive Pilot only works in a few highways and only in 2 states: Nevada and California.

Lucid chooses a similar conservative approach.

Tesla allows its features to work almost anywhere but 3 months ago, the Florida jury slapped it with $329 million for autopilot accident.

That's fair... But am I crazy to think that even if it doesn't use hands free driving in most places, shouldn't it at least have lane keep/lane centre like on cheap Bae Ioniq 6s?I could use that everywhere with that car.. Just need to nudge the wheel once in a while

That's exactly what I gathered from my research prior to buying the car. And hands free drive assist is enabled under dreamdrive in the car... So that's why the fact the hands free icon or dream drive stuff doesn't even come on or show up on the cockpit

Right. It even works on "highways" with stop lights that go through towns. At least that's how it works for me in AZ. But there are many rural 2 lane roads where it will not work - they are not designated as highways by the state.

I think the feature only works on roads approved by Lucid, regardless of whatever the state calls them. There's a list, but we don't know what roads are included until we try them out ourselves, as many Canadians are now finding out.

It will work in Canada but we don't know the timeline. It will for you. It already started to work in Toronto.

We'll agree to disagree. Rule #1 for EVs are never trust future updates. I'm just pissed that no one from lucid that I spoke while buying this car, and me specifically asking about dreamdrive pro and hands free driving said it doesn't really work in Canada other than maybe some parts of Toronto. Awful.
