I just saw a review of my next car - Gravity - (hour long video) where reviewer said he would never buy the car bc cause of terrible software and fear of being stranded...
Anybody having these problems and have they been resolved?

Please read the forum; this has been discussed at length, across many threads.

In short: there are still some bugs, but they are actively trying to fix them. The fobs appear to be fixed and nobody is getting stranded.

Yes - if I were retired I would read all of the million posts on here but instead, working for a living, I decided to ask you. thanks for the answer. I assume his review was long ago?

I don’t know what review you’re referring to; there have been many. Feel free to link to a specific one.

We all work for a living (most of us). I, and the other moderators, are volunteers who contribute our spare time to help out here.

You should read the forum; there is a search box, and it is helpful. It would save us from having many threads on the same topic, which is something we precisely want to avoid; if this thread became a rehashing of another thread, we would close it and link to the original thread instead.

Have a lovely day! :)

Progress is being made, pretty rapidly at times. Then, at other times they fix something and then there are problems with something else. Lucid's long term average for updates is every 18 days, give or take.

My own belief is that owning/leasing a Lucid is still not quite out of early adopter fun territory. In other words, I enjoy my Lucid Air a lot, and love having something that is really good and also different than pretty much everyone else; but I could see it being frustrating for someone who doesn't care about being on the cutting edge and feels like every time there is a software bug the manufacturer has betrayed them.

So, where are you? How angry/helpless does it make you feel when your computer does something weird? Do you run out of the room screaming or call support? Or do you turn it off and turn it on again and move forward?

Hey Bonanzajohn
I wish you would link the review you are referring to so we could see what you are talking about. But there is a video review by Savage Geese that most members seem to think is quite fair.

Thread 'Savage Geese Takes a Long Look' https://lucidowners.com/threads/savage-geese-takes-a-long-look.13863/
I wish I could find it.
However it was over an hour long, he went into the factory, interviewed the top dogs, examined the partially built gravity, had extraordinarily detailed complex explanations of all the mechanics and engineering, took it onto a track and then public roads and after praising everything, ended with a complete downer about being afraid of being stranded therefore would not put his family in it.

I'm sure your time and money is valuable to you.
In order to efficiently utilize your time and make a well informed decision on where you may spend your money, I highly encourage you to use the search feature suggested to you.
Emphasis on "well informed".

Among those million posts on here is very valuable information you may want to and probably should consider.
More information than can reasonably be provided in a few posts within this thread.
Although "reasonable" is a relative term.

I don't know your purchase timeline, but I believe you will get better results by putting in some time to research what you feel you need to make your decision.
You can go to the Gravity Bugs/Issues thread and you will get info on the "bugs/issues".
There are other threads where owners post about the benefits, joys, excitement, etc. of Gravity ownership.

Just remember, as you probably know, online your average person is posting/looking for answers to issues, not raving in amazement and satisfaction.
This forum is no different, but it's probably the best place to get quality information.

A quick take on my Gravity ownership in case you choose to rely soley on this thread; I love my Gravity.
I've had very very few minor issues with software.
Never stranded.

I have had my Gravity for two weeks, there has been no issues leaving the vehicle stranded. A couple of alerts come with some apprehension most go away with a restart or when driving. Not sure at what point alert fatigue will result in something unexpected? Vehicle is on version 3.3.5

Alerts & Issues Experperienced:

System Warning
Steering System Fault Detected
Air Suspension Failure - Drive at < 20mph
Driver Monitoring Camera Cannot detect Drivers face (Comes on then goes off - sensor is not blocked)
Key Detection - I see this if I park the car, grab something from a shop, return to the car in just a few minutes.
Also after short stops the car can take a few minutes to wake up. This is random as it does not happen every time
Pilot panel did not wake, I could drive the vehicle but had not access to my garage from the car. It was fine the next morning.

Love the Gravity and all that it offers, bugs and all

It's the Savage Geese video which someone just linked here for you, which you saw. Fairly recent video, but he did not have the latest software installed for that video. Some more of the issues have since been resolved (for most, if not all) concerning the key fob and a few others, but it's still a growing process for Lucid and in time, it will get better. I honestly think that if you have to ask, you are likely not ready for this experience of early adopter for a car. This is my fourth early adopter car and 3rd EV of them. It can be a sometimes frustrating and annoying process but also extremely rewarding too. It's not the life for everyone. You need to be a bit adventurous and willing to roll with the punches a bit. Good luck in your choice!

Very true.

Be honest with yourself.
This is my first early adopter car and first ev, but researching this forum got me ready.

I took my new Gravity from CA to Santa Fe New Mexico. 3 days of driving and charging. Took my single FOB with me before the most recent 3.3.5 version. Never stranded, never locked out. Occasionally had trouble getting car to recognize fob and shift into gear. I reset the FOB using a battery removal and replacement while holding unlock... ( yes the FOB is a tiny system that occasionally needs sw reboots and updates.) Did 5 resets on entire 2000 mile trip. The minute I got home I ran the latest update and haven't had to reset once in many trips locally. Still need to update the FOB SW but the latest car SW update is definitely better that the one Savage Goose guys had.

When trying to shift into gear I noticed that my left hand on wheel blocked my seeing the shifter indicator. While on initial shift into gear the car displays a large R or D as appropriate.. would probably be better if they showed it everytime you shift the stalk so guys with hands on wheel can see that it was in gear. I think I fooled myself a few times with all the spurious key not found errors into thinking it had failed only to discover it worked on 3rd try. Key was only temporarily missing... I didn't see the big letter and assumed it failed occasionally when it hadn't.

Had a fabulous time zooming across the desert southwest. It is a wonderful car. When they release the Phone as a key and Apple Car Play ( hopefully Ultra) I think we will all love what we see. Might even be able to configure the display so I can have the gear select indicator up top. Should also smooth out the audio and visual options. I really enjoyed the car on the long trip. Hope to hit the road again soon for more than Costco runs... although it is awesome for those also. Tidal audio takes getting used to but worked well enough for the trip.

That's funny, I linked the Savage Geese video. I haven't watched it because I have no interest in buying a Gravity but others on the forum praised it as a fair and unvarnished review of the car.

Did he really say that he would "never buy the car because of the terrible software and fear of being stranded"?

That's not what he said.

Gravity bugs thread is only 141 pages short, I'm sure you can scan thru it after work 🤣
Seriously, it's a great car, but you need to be OK with being an early adopter for a while and have patience with glitching software.
At this point we have well published workarounds for most issues, so you aren't likely to get stranded if you read the forum for a bit.

He said something along the lines of he wouldn’t recommend it to friends etc. in its current state because of the software. He also said he wouldn’t let his partner drive it either. Not a good look for Lucid tbh.

Overall, he said people should probably expect to wait 2 years for Lucid to sort its software woes out.

He also said the car was noisy, the sound system wasn't good and the you could feel expansion joints as you drove over them. All of which actual owners here (not me yet) have more (or less) disclaimed. So it seems a bit prejudiced to me, albeit without having a personal experience myself.

I made my decision six months ago when I ordered my Gravity. I am just wondering if i need to have second thoughts. It is hard to sort out the different takes...

I have experienced the ups and downs with my Air and feel like it is almost perfect now after numerous OTA updates
