I have seen inclusion of bits of Dreamdrive2 pro current performance, but am looking for a more current picture of what it does and doesn’t do right now. I am coming from a model S 2017 and since they upgraded my computer about 6 months ago fsd is unusable even though techs say nothing is wrong. It never holds highway speed, it decided to veer off the highway toward a ditch, and the like. One reason I am about to pull the trigger on a gravity. My first test drive I asked the sa about it and the response was it doesn’t work. I am guessing that was a communication problem and they were maybe thinking in terms of hands free, idk. Does it maintain lane centering, how does it do when the lane becomes really wide either from an on-ramp lane merge or lane splitting into two? Do you set absolute speed or do you set in relation to speed limit, will it modulate above the setting to keep up with the flow of traffic? I think it only does mapped highways, is that correct? How does it do in terms of speed and performance for parallel and perpendicular parking? When it fails and you need to take control, what happened? Any other tid bits are appreciated, just trying to understand what I am getting with dd2 pro right now, thanks!!

It works great; they were confused.

Does it maintain lane centering,
Yes.

It tries to follow your lane and is usually successful, especially if there is a car ahead of you. It handles others merging in well. The lane splitting into two occasionally confuses it but much, much less frequently than before

Do you set absolute speed or do you set in relation to speed limit, will it modulate above the setting to keep up with the flow of traffic?
Either absolute or relative to speed limit (as a static mph above or a percentage). It will not exceed above whatever you set.

I think it only does mapped highways, is that correct?
No, this is a common misunderstanding. It should work on *any* highway, but it uses GPS to ensure you’re on a highway. In addition, it uses mapped highway data to enhance how it drives.

It’s so easy to park I never use auto park. But when I’ve used it (mostly to test it), it has worked fine.

When it fails and you need to take control, what happened?
It tells you to take control, and then you do. Everything is fine.

Is it supposed to be GPS-fenced to highways? My experience is that it's available and works fine on almost any road (similar to my Tesla).

I've never gotten auto-park to work, and the interface is *extremely* clunky. (You have to start the auto-park app on the pilot panel before it will even look.) I find this is no better than a gimmick on our X so I don't really care that much, but I would not consider the Gravity auto-park to be functional.

ALSO a big benefit -- unlike Tesla you don't have to re-engage DreamDrive after you perform a manual intervention. It stays active, which is WAY more convenient than the Tesla experience imho.

I've said this elsewhere, but our DD2Pro experience is roughly similar to our 2019 Tesla experience, and it's really just fine and makes long-distance driving less exhausting. It's nowhere close to the sophistication of the current Tesla stack, but it doesn't really need to be.... the only thing I miss is navigation-driven automatic lane changes.

Drive Assist should only work on highways. ACC on any road.

I agree; it works, but I don't use it.

I’ve only gotten it to try once and it took such and odd angle it made me nervous so I stopped it.

Still better than Tesla, which tried to park itself in the cart return at Target.
