Lucid Gravity update 3.3.5 + fob update

Installed 3.3.5 and took a short drive to grocery store. Fob functionality seems more responsive and, although very limited sample size, no ‘key not detected’ or black screen (signifying auto reboot). The update seems to have only addressed fob functionality, other relatively minor bugs still there. But, so far, a success!

You will need to get your key fob firmware updated to experience the performance improvement. This can be done at your service center. No appointment is necessary, but please call ahead. You can also schedule a mobile appointment.
 
I'm trying to see if they can send a mobile tech to me this week but if not, I'm just going to drive the 200 miles next weekend to the SC and get this keyfob updated and hopefully done and the worry out of my life if/when it will work.
 
Is this a new fob update? Or the same fob update we have been getting the past few weeks?

I'm leaning towards moving forward and hoping for the best. But the widespread problems with the Gravity don't at all make it an easy decision. It's really sad to see so much great engineering diminished by all the bullet holes Lucid has put into its own feet. It also pushes me quite hard towards leasing, to provide some safety net against Lucid going out of business. If they repeat the screw-ups of the Air and the Gravity in the mid-market, than the odds of the entire company going under are much much higher. And at this point there's not a lot of evidence that they know how to have a more reliable vehicle at launch the next time around.

FWIW two weeks in with my Gravity and haven’t had but one key fob issue that it didn’t detect but key card worked. Proximity Auto Unlock/lock had worked every time so far. Minimal software issues like random service notification but those are minimal to me and I know they’re false alerts like when the headlight error turns on yet I can see my headlights on… fantastic vehicle thus far.

My experience has been very similar to yours. I’ve had my Gravity for about 3 weeks and I’ve never had to use my keycard because the fob has always worked, as has proximity lock/unlock. Hopefully that’s still true after 3.3.5 🙂

Lucid is trying to break into a segment where it's getting beyond the "this vehicle is fantastic to drive" to a segment where "I don't care how it drives, everything else just needs to work". Given the popularity of SUV's this has the potential to really damage Lucid if they can't get a grip on the software. The stupid part is that it's not even major issues (key fob aside) but just stupid little reoccurring bugs that if they happen once or twice, who cares but when they repeatedly happen its beyond frustrating. I'm one of those tech enthusiasts and have more tolerance for this kind of stuff but at a few days shy of 4 months of ownership, even my patience is being tested for little bugs that just haven't been fixed since day one. The soccer mom won't care how the car handles around corners, what they will care about is having to reset the car over and over again, sit and wait for black screens to disappear etc.

The UX\Ui itself is actually quite polished for a new release model but they just need to get some serious stability into it. I actually think 3.3.2 did more harm than good and Lucid's promises of "soon" and "in the coming weeks" about updates is wearing thin. The messaging is at a point where it needs to be "in the coming days" on some of this stuff. I fear Lucid is starting to push the limits of peoples patience and the more Gravity's that are sold to the normal type of car owner they could damage the brand that could take years to repair. We all see in here that the posts skew more negative than positive so you can only imagine the more people that get their hands on the Gravity how quickly the "this car is a lemon" will spread all over the software which is what a majority of owners are going to care about, not the driving. Who knows, I could be wrong but I feel Lucid is really playing with fire at this point.

On top of software as lucid belongs to the luxury segment category they also should really work on customer service which isn’t upto the mark of other luxury car manufacturers. These should be addressed at the earliest for the masses to experience these great lucid vehicles.

I'll share my keyfob experience since I don't think I came across anyone having one of my issues.
I accepted delivery of my Gravity GT on 9/30. Surprising is that I got 2 keyfobs and 2 key card.

Key fob detection issues. Both came with less than perfect battery levels (2.948V and 2.935V). One of the key fobs (back in the Lucid Service Center) would freak out the car as it would send alert after alert saying no key detected. I had one new battery so I replaced it for one of the key fobs. It is possible that this issue was resolved by replacing the battery in the key fob and installing 3.3.2 update as I didn't see this issue in the fob with new battery. But after occupying the car for long period of time without going into the Drive gear, the car wouldn't detect the key fob (the one with new battery). I had to shake it for good 10+ seconds for it to eventually detect it.

No reaction or very delayed reaction to button presses on the either of two key fobs. New battery didn't help. Sometimes I press unlock and it will unlock doors 3-5 seconds later. Many times it won't do anything. The best thing for me is keep pressing lock/unlock button repeatedly until it works. Sometimes it will work after 3 presses, but often I had to press it 10-20 times to register. Holding the button (at least the lock one) is not an option because it triggers the panic alarm (often with 5 seconds delay) that I have trouble disabling because it again doesn't react to my unlock button presses so it screams at me for extended period of time
  • I updated the car to version 3.3.2, but that didn't help. I hard rebooted the car (20+s holding break pedal, Cancel, and Microphone buttons) with no improvement. I restarted both fobs (remove battery foe 30s, hold unlock button down, put battery back in, release unlock button), but that also didn't help.
  • During delivery appointment I asked whether fobs have the newest firmware (required for 3.3.1), but I was just told the issue with fobs was fixed...
  • Good news is that key cards seems to work consistently. Phone app wakes up the car fairly quickly and consistently unlocks and locks the car.
  • The fob with new battery was consistently detected, because I had no trouble opening and closing the doors by pressing driver's handle.
Within few days I started talking with service center and eventually scheduled an appointment for the end of this month as I have a few other mechanical issues they need to fix (like stuck privacy shade in one door and frunk failing to open every now and then). They recommended to reset the fob (which I already tried). But I decided to try it again and funny enough the issue was resolved. Car was responding to all fob presses. I took 2nd keyfob, but I didn't restart it and it worked perfectly too, so I don't think the issue was with the fob but with the car and probably combination of a few hard reboots and car going to sleep resolved it.

It was perfect until yesterday. The issue came back. 10-20 pressed to get the car to lock or unlock. Both fobs are affected. Tried hard reboot like 8 times in 2 days (I also started seeing many DreamDrive unavailable, sensors blocked etc. errors). Tried key fob restarts, on the fob I keep using, 4+ times now. Issue persist. Even after leaving the car to let it sleep for the night didn't help as I had the issues all day today. Also, it has issues detecting the key now. I was shaking the key for good minute and then gave up and successfully used the key car. Funny is that it happened when I was going to drop off my team after a lunch... But I conditioned them beforehand and told them the car is buggy so we just all laughed at that.

This is the most frustrating issue I have with the car. Just standing and pressing the keys 20 times for the car to register. I'll probably go back to pressing driver's door handle since it worked in the past.

Oh, I checked the battery in "my" keyfob today. It was 3.009V, so it is still (should be) fine. But surprised that after just 2 weeks the voltage dropped from 3.24V to 3.009V. I have automatic lock and unlock disabled and I keep the fobs far from the car in faraday pouch (that I confirmed works with those fobs, they block UWB just fine) in a place that is rarely "moved" so the fobs should stay asleep for long period of times.

I'm really baffled and I'm not sure what is the problem. Is it software? Is it hardware?

I did an update with my keyfob issues. TLDR: I had to spam click unlock/lock buttons. It took 10-20 presses for the car to register it. Also, pushing driver's door handle didn't work.

A few hours after the update I went to my car. Once again it didn't react to my keyfob presses. I tested a few times but I had to spam buttons again. Door handle didn't react my pushes either.
I noticed the car has a "black screen". After my keyfob tests I sat inside and waited for a few minutes but the black screens never went away. I performed hard reboot. Once that completed I was surprised that the car didn't even mention "key not detected" when I pressed the break pedal. But I didn't test it further so might be just pure coincidence. I left the car and it closed on first keyfob press. I played with the fob a bit and looks like the issue went away once again. It reacts to all of my keyfob button presses. I'm happy, but I'm not sure whether the issue is fixed or just temporarily went away and will be back in 2 weeks. Especially considering that I don't have the newest keyfob firmware. Either way. I'm dropping off my car to the service in 2 weeks so it would be great if it stays this way until then.

In the app I don’t get an option for a mobile tech?
 
Installed the update last night. Obviously did not have key Fob update done. So far this morning car is working fine. I will post more on my experience around the general stability of the software as I put some miles on.
