Has anyone pulled the footrest (or "dead pedal" if you prefer) yet? It looks like the whole thing is plastic and like it just pulls off but I didn't want to go yanking on one in a showroom 😅 Specifically wondering if the piece is hollow and the floor is flat underneath or if the floor is elevated and molded to the shape of the footrest. I saw a thread where it was flat on the Air, hoping it's the same on the Gravity.

In case anyone comes across this thread via search - you can get your fingers under the foot rest cover and the floor is NOT flat underneath. Not sure if it extends all the way up but it definitely contours. I will probably pull it at some point, I will add pictures to this thread if I do.

I have to ask: why? lol
I have to drive left footed. An easily removable left foot rest makes it a lot easier to install left accelerator equipment. I have a local shop that does modifications, but they are being very "we can't guarantee anything" about it since it's a new vehicle they've never worked on before, so I got a bit paranoid. I have a temporary kit mechanical kit - it literally just pushes the other pedal - I've used on other vehicles before getting a permanent wired pedal, but the gravity's pedal area is pretty tight, it would be a lot simpler if I could just yank that foot rest out and have more space.

I've had to deal with the same problem in other cars. Which pedal adapter are you planning to use? Before attempting any install, I'd want to speak to someone at Lucid to ensure there's nothing in the floor that would be bad to drill into.

The permanent install would be the Sure Grip Featherlite which supports non floor installation, and even calls out EV compatibility.

I am certainly not drilling anything myself and I'm guessing there's no drilling into the flat floor no matter what because of the battery pack and coolant system on top.

The mechanical pedal attaches to the carpet, I know that sounds janky, but it's so strong it's hard to get it initially placed properly and it pulls fibers out when you remove it.

That looks very nice. I only have experience with left foot pedals that are mechanically linked to the original pedal. Is it a sure thing that it integrates into the Gravity's pedal electronics? I don't see any list of supported vehicles on their site. And I have no idea how standardized accelerator pedal wiring might be.

There definitely *is* a list because Howell said the Gravity wasn't on it because it was too new. I know for a fact it works on the i4, ev9, and Teslas. I will push tomorrow on whether or not it works on the Air.

But in the meantime I still have to squeeze the mechanical pedal in there myself or deliver it directly to the shop and wait for who knows how long for certification and installation.

Just following up here. The mechanical pedal seems to work fine and *just* fits without removing anything. I definitely will keep trying to get a wired pedal but I can drive the car safely and fairly comfortably.

Only really issue was the floor mats were too smooth to grip the device but flipping the mat over worked 😅
