I found references for the Air but not the Gravity.
Anyone know where to place the SunPass or EZ-Pass toll tags so they work on the Gravity?

It’s on the right side of the windshield mirror housing. You’ll find a small rectangle with hash marks.

Second Hand but reliable source: Gravity delivered to date have has four (4) variations on the windshield layering. Some have the window, some have anywhere placement option and some early ones placement problems anywhere (despite vendor claims).

My understanding is the various constructions not only impact toll tag placement but also heat transfer (both reducing summer hot and providing winter heat). But it’s invisible to the driver, unspecified and unspec’d to the owner. Not sure if even service center can tell what you have if you don’t have that marked cutout area.

It seems that some people here have complained about cell phone reception inside the car, especially if the phone is placed on the center console. I wonder if varying constructions could partly account for the different experiences people have had with cell phones.

This was a thing with the Air too. Originally, it had a metallic-tinted windshield with a small untinted window all the way at the bottom right of the passenger side. This would have been perfect if you didn’t need to adjust the toll tag ever, but at least in CA you have to switch it between 1, 2, and 3 people for the express lanes. That was impossible while driving, so I ended up just leaving it wrong for a long time.

Later iterations fixed this problem by using non-metallic tint, and now you can use it anywhere.

I had mine replaced under warranty because it was literally unusable, since CA requires switching, and unless you had a passenger you couldn’t reach it. Gravity has the window in a place that’s easily accessible, at least, so I don’t know if the same argument could be made.

But yeah, there will likely be multiple iterations as they figure out the best option for the windshield tint.
 
I will confirm that, at least for the Kapsch E-ZPass tags, you really MUST put it in the small rectangle. I put mine higher up before I knew this (early adopter problems) and everything came through as V-Tolls (video) until I moved it to the required spot.
 
I was able to squeeze a uniden r8 and a switchable fastrak into the box. I have the r8 powered by a mirror tap. Would be great if thy made blendmount. I may see if they want to take a look at my gravity to manufacture one. They are literally down the street from me (maybe 5-10 minutes).

Interesting comment re: heat. Whatever the coating/tint is on our windshield, it does virtually nothing to stop heat from coming through above the driver and passenger. It’s very noticeable in an environment (mid Atlantic) where it’s not super hot all the time.

Our ezpass spot is in the place next to rear view mirror, so maybe this heat issue is just normal.

I don’t want the shades because I’d prefer to be a bit hot and use AC vs blocking the view/openness.

My northern CA FasTrac was installed by my delivery specialist on left middle of windshield under visor hinge area. Seems to work great there... I never wrap or tint my own cars... Nicely hidden from view most of the time there but the occupant # selector is easily accessible to driver.

Does anyone know what type of tinting is on the Gravity DE's front window? I can see that it's tinted as there's a cutout line around the front camera/rear view mirror area . I have a TollTag on order and I'm not sure if there's a special spot that it needs to go. I vaguely remember a cutout on some Airs as the spot where it needed to go. If there is a cutout somewhere, I don't see it. I'm hoping that they did NOT put any sort of metallic tint that is going to interfere with transponder and my radar detector.

And on the topic of radar detectors, I have mine in the window front and...

I have since shoehorned my R8 and TollTag into the small window. It's a tight fit but they are both working normally now.
 
Now that I have our Gravity I have tried our Sunpass toll tag. I do not have the hash marks on my windshield as descibed by previous posters. I was told at delivery that the the tag would work anywhere on the windshield. I placed it on the drivers side toward the top. It does not work there. I will try it next where mssaunders so nicely showed in a picture but will not have the opportunity to test until we next drive to St. Petersburg.
 
Just picked up my Gravity this past week...and it does have the cut-out area to the right (from driver's reference) of the rear view mirror. Really not hash marks to distinguish the area...in fact I had to take the vehicle outside before I could even distinguish where the rectangular area of 'no tint' was (but sure enough it was there). Actually glad now that it isn't noticeable in any regard...just look very closely.
 
From one Grandpa to another. Thanks for the feedback. I finally found the area just where described by shining a flashlight at night from inside.
 
This should maybe be a new thread but has anyone who has experienced cell phone performance degradation in the Gravity found any type of resolution? I know some have had issues where replacing the center console fixed things but not sure if it was this specifically. This also seems like it could be a byproduct of the window tinting material used. Having so many versions of windshields out there makes me wonder if I have an earlier one that they decided to revise/upgrade.
My phone essentially goes into limp mode as soon as I enter my Gravity. I can be streaming music or a YouTube video just outside my car door, for example, and as soon as I sit in the car and shut the door, it stops. Every time. Then I can only get the video to play frame by frame by hitting play over and over (very poor connection symptom). Until I step out of my car where it continues to play normally again. I also wonder if this is why some people experience such poor call quality in the Gravity.

The only issues I have with my cell phone are when it’s on the center console - then signal is degraded and GPS doesn’t work.

Otherwise, phone works fine. I usually keep it in pocket or on armrest.

Hmm. Mine is terrible even if I hold it near the driver side window. I tried watching an earnings report while waiting for my kid after school and it was impossible. I finally got out and just walked around a bit while I waited.

Maybe I'll play around and see if i get a similar degradation in the 2nd and/or 3rd row.
