Removal of Gravity front visors?

Anyone try to remove the front visors on the Gravity? I was driving our X this evening and realized I really miss the wide open windshield. I don’t miss the X, as I’ve said elsewhere. I see folks did it on their Airs, but don’t see how. I am fine leaving the nubs on windshield.

I rarely use the visors and would gladly block the sun with my hand if I had to for the few times I need to do it.

Thinking about trying to just remove the driver visor - must be some screw or two. Getting rid of the visor would be great, for me…

A forum member in Florida removed the visors in his Air and posted couple years back.

Keep in mind this is illegal. Totally your choice to make, of course, but technically illegal, as far as I understand.

I think the sun visors are the weakest design element on current Lucid vehicles. They are intrusive and ill-conceived.

I understand Tesla may hold a patent on the X visor design, but there should be a better solution than placing visors directly in the driver’s sightline and breaking up the otherwise expansive windshield and roof.

When I take delivery of my Gravity, I plan to remove the visors and rely on a tinted windshield and sunglasses, as I’ve done for years without issue.

was hoping they'd change them on the Gravity but I'm guessing they didn't want to be seen copying Tesla or Tesla has a patent on that visor design preventing others from cottony. Illegal to remove them but you'll also have ugly black spots on the windshield also I think.

I don’t think the hinge and catch are easily removable. Someone had their passenger visor fall off and Lucid replaced the whole windshield because those grommets are somehow strongly integrated into the glass itself. Evidently more so than just some strong adhesive. I’ve taken to just tilting the visors so that they’re minimized to my view. I too miss the openness of the X’s visor solution.

Having sun visors is really a legal thing? Hmmm. Now I will have to learn more. I was just going to pop them off and unscrew the torx. I know the black nubs would be there but that’s fine.

For the number of times I’ve used them, the ones on our X are fine. However, when not in use on the Gravity, they really impact what should be an awesome, wide cockpit-type view. That said, clearly not the worst experience.

Still, what I noticed when I test drove the Gravity was that even though the design of the sun visors was the same as it was on the Air, they were well up and out of my way. The visors were mounted so high up on the windscreen that they were out of my field of view if I kept my eye gaze level and straight in front of me.

I know I haven’t proposed a solution, I just noticed that in the Gravity, I found the placement of the sun visors less intrusive.

But are they so far out of the way that they aren't useful?

Don't have my Gravity yet, but I have a common passenger about your size that frequently complains about not only sun visor positioning but the giant windshield back when I had an X. I may be in for the "worst of both worlds" if they are so far out of the way...

Try just tilting them enough that they’re minimized to your perspective. That alone took away about 80% of the perceived obstruction for me. I think just having the nubs still stuck on the windshield would somehow bother me worse.
