Gentlemen! Do you fixate on noises? Does that buzzing light switch keep you up at night? Do you do jujitsu? Can you count the toothpicks as they hit the ground?!?

Me too.

When the interior lights come on, the window switch LEDs make an electrical whine more annoying than my tinnitus. This, clearly, is unacceptable. I was about to just rip the switch out and throw it away when I decided to try an old car audio trick, and it worked: felt tape.

You need:
1” felt tape
Scissors

The sound emits from the underside of the switch through a crack in the rocker.

This fix uses felt tape to fill that gap in a non-permanent, non lease return charge way.

Step one: cut the tape to about 2”

Step two: fold 2/3rd of the tape back on itself to make it thicker but leaving some adhesive

Step three:
Insert the tape plug into the recessed area in front of the switch. Press the non-sticky side firmly UNDER the switch so it presses against the gap, you will hear the humming stop. Then press down on the exposed adhesive (where I am pointing with the pick). This will allow the felt gasket to stay against the switch gap and flex with it, preventing all humming. When it’s time to turn your car in or just replace it, simply pull it out.

Boom! Now we can enjoy silence.

Will try this out! Any recommendations for a specific felt tape?

If this works you are my hero!

I just used some off amazon

It works! You’ll notice when you put your finger under the switch it gets quieter. It definitely comes from the underside.

That’s amazing you found the source of that noise, I had assumed it was from the screens. Like this has been a topic of conversation since 2022, Kyle even mentioned it in OutOfSpec. My tinnitus is pretty bad if I pay attention to it but I could still hear that noise. just traded my Air for the Gravity so hopefully I don’t start to notice another high frequency ear stab in that, but if I do now I’ll check the window switches, thanks!

There were two distinct high pitched noises. One was indeed the screens but Lucid fixed that in a firmware update some time back. The other one remains the window switches, in both Air and Gravity.

OK, I tried this and there is indeed a large decrease in the window switch whine. Perhaps there is room for improvement in my technique. I'll continue to fiddle with it - but this still made a huge difference for me. Thank you!

Awesome!! Make sure it’s pushed all the way against the switch like a gasket. You can add another layer of tape too, wont hurt anything!

Just picky up my Graviy and the ringing noise is unbelievable. Has lucid come up with a actual fix for this yet?

I pointed this out to a Lucid executive at an owner event when I sat in a Gravity. He confirmed he could hear it too, and I hope he brought it up to the right people. But have not heard of a definitive fix. This stopgap solution does make a noticeable difference for me in my Air.

I imagine they could make some sort of 3D print style insert out of rubber or something.
