Question to the collective.

Does the Gravity feel like it has excessive suspension judder? I immediately noticed it as soon as I was driving home from the delivery center, but just assume it was acceptable. Over rougher roads, it feels the car is moving side to side. I'm not stranger to stiff suspension, but the feeling in the Gravity is very different.

This weekend for the first time, I had people in the middle row and they immediately commented about the rough ride. Has anyone else had passengers comment on this? It makes me wonder if there is an issue with my suspension.

The easiest thing to do is head over to the local showroom and test drive another Gravity, but I figured I'd ask the collective and see.
 
Do you have DHP? I've never felt what you are experiencing. Does it feel like vehicle roll or like there is some sort of compliance laterally?
 
I haven’t felt it. I actually feel like it absorbs bumps and other road issues incredibly well.

That said, I DID notice my ride got rougher when I started getting the “air suspension degraded” alert. My Gravity is “stuck” at the standard height and it’s clearly a tougher ride than when I first got it. It’s not a bug for me - it’s actually degraded. So, it could be an issue with air suspension.

Bahhh! I'm headed to Santa Barbara this weekend. But that's actually a great idea, we totally should.

I definitely felt something was up the moment I rolled off the lot but assumed this was typical of car that weighs 6000 lbs. My track car has decently stiff springs, almost 1000 lbs/inch and it doesn't feel like this.

It's almost like something is wrong with the valve in the strut, but maybe it's normal.
 
I swung by the mall today to return something and was playing with the suspension in the highest height and going over speed bumps.

The Gravity crashes over them. Here is a video.


Yes 10mph is on the quick side but even going slower, the same thing occurs. It's great for smooth rodes but I can't imagine using this on a dirt road. In my opinion something is up with my air suspension.

It doesn't seem to act like this went set to low.
 
Caveat I know jack diddly about air suspensions.

For all I know it's this stiff because the bellows on the strut are maxed out on pressure to provide the highest possible ride height. IE this is exactly what is supposed to happen.

Tire pressure also matters. It is supposed to be 42 psi on Gravity and mine was delivered at 46 psi…

One thing that was extremely obvious with our R1S was when the ride was at its lowest, it was super rough versus when it was at standard. That had an air suspension as well with less sophisticated dampers. My sense is highest and lowest heights have roughest rides. It’s tuned for “standard”. Not that any of the rides are “rough” in our gravity…

I think I have the dynamic handling, it has the rear steer. Where do adjust the damper settings? All I've played with is the drive modes and heights.

You can not adjust damper or anything else with dynamic handling. You can only adjust air suspension height.

That would be silly, what are all those extra chambers doing then?
 
I guess I should add I haven’t seen any damping dedicated controls anywhere in the manual someone has to assume they are automatically selected for you…my test drive was on 22/23” and even though I didn’t hit any speed bumps it was well damped over rough road.

Can’t hurt to have it checked out and do try it in different modes. Without the 3 chambers the low mode should be the bounciest due to compression

Did you figure this out? I'm starting to notice the ride is very bumpy around Brooklyn. Granted roads are pretty terrible but thought the suspension would smooth more of the bumps than it does - especially on Standard height. I have never owned a car with air suspension before so don't know if this is normal or my expectations are unreasonable.

Is there a way to verify that air suspension is working as intended? I have the Dynamic Handling Package.

Happy to meet up with my Lincoln Aviator (air suspension on 22s) and we can compare and contrast.

Negatory. But I can confirm the extremely hard hits happen on heighest and lowests settings.

The judder feels like the car's body is jiggling side to side, not up and down. It doesn't happen over all bumps or road imperfections, only over some. Its very weird. I'm not sure if this is a byproduct of a heavy car. Imagine HD2500 truck without a load. An HD2500 would have the rear suspension setup to handle a heavy load, but when driving unloaded the rear kinda jiggles around.

Yes, I also feel some of those side to side movements on bumpy, local streets. Best I can describe is that the whole car moves (like it's stiff - no give at all) when I'd expect a particular wheel to absorb some of the bump gracefully. Outside of NYC, it feels smoother than anything else I have driven. Almost wonder if this is software fixable (vaguely remember hearing that Rivian R1S suspension similarly improved after a particular update).
