Yay Hardware upgrade CPU and memory

Keep in mind: only V3 and up superchargers will work (older ones don’t have the ability to “talk” to non-Teslas) and you can only get 45kW out of them for now. (Once Tesla upgrades their power supply to 1000 watts, you’ll get 300+ kW charging — but that could be a ways off)

I thought it was only opened for Gravity. Does Air currently work with an adapter? Have folks tested it?

I was told yesterday at the King of Prussia showroom to expect the NACS adapter and functionality by the end of this month FWIW.

I forgot to mention that I was also told that the price of the Lucid-approved/badged adapter will be comparable to current (presumably the Lectron/A2Z) adapters which are $130-$200 depending on promotions/sales.

Yes you will be able to get up to 50kW from the Tesla Supercharger dispenser, but when you account for losses in the DC to DC voltage boost and thermal management of the wunderbox and battery, you will be lucky to end up with 45kW into the battery.

I would love to have this, but I am 23 months into a 36 month lease... I would love to have this update, but does not make sense to put almost 1k into a leased car for one year of remaining service... It would be great if they found a way to make some type of accommodation, but doubt there is a way...

Follow up.... Lucid will likely reap a benefit in the lessee's investment this CPU upgrade when the car is returned from lease term.. It would be nice if they offered this as credit on a new lease--or offered a commensurate discount on buyout if the lessee wants to purchase their Air...

Not true. I have a 2022 AGT and superchargers work for me with the Lectron adapter. I’ve used it at multiple locations, but again, you’re capped at basically 45-50kW.

(If you don’t believe me, check the Tesla website. It clearly states lucid is now one of the brands open to SC access)

I’ve had full SC access on my 2022 AGT for over a month with the Lectron adapter. Tesla website clearly states that all V3 and V3.5 superchargers are now open to Lucid

Holy cow, thread started this morning and already 86 responses! People are really interested in the chip upgrade, including me. Even though there is no immediate benefit ( with apologies to @borski , the correct term is not snappiness but robustness), you can see that FOMO (fear of missing out) runs strong among the owners. I have really been trying to embrace JOMO, but the siren call is too much for me.. Will be scheduling it with my 2 year maintenance...

I think that there will be an immediate benefit. I use SiriusXM for all drives. The audio is often choppy, and it seems like the CPU is overloaded or out of RAM. It is consistently exacerbated when I use Lucid Nav maps at the same time. This is reproducible every single time. Turn off the in-car nav, and the choppiness on SiriusXM improves. My Air GT is a 2022, so anyone buying a new Air should not have this problem from 2025 and beyond. I am delighted to upgrade my car when possible. I don't even see this as a "defect" or "shortcoming". When I took delivery of my Air in 2022, SiriusXM was not even announced as a potential in-car feature as a native app. After piling on CarPlay, SiriusXM, and other improvements, the software just outgrew the hardware. I can live with that. I am happy to pay a reasonable fee to upgrade the hardware in a 3-year-old car. I have had Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Cadillac in the past and have never been offered the opportunity to upgrade the infotainment hardware. I see this as an advantage of Lucid's approach. Tesla has also offered hardware upgrades in the past and that too is great.

Are you talking about Superchargers with MagicDock? Those work with any CCS cars

Air is definitely not provisioned (yet) with regular Superchargers without a MagicDock. If anyone claims otherwise, I am sorry to say, they are hallucinating

Try Sirius app in CarPlay and native Lucid nav. Audio is not choppy.

Yes, thanks, I have tried and know that. The point is that I want the native app to work properly. I don't want to use my iPhone's cellular bandwidth for streaming SiriusXM in the car all day when I'm already paying for it through the native app.

And as I stated, I drive an Air Grand Touring. You don’t have to believe me, but it does work with the Lectron NACS/CCS adapter and has for at least a month
