Gravity Delivery Discussion

Respectfully, if 90 out of 100 cars have no issue, that’s a 90% success rate. It’s not ideal, but it’s also not a mountain. It’s a bump that’s worth figuring out/fixing, but let’s keep the scale in perspective.

A 90% success rate might be acceptable (particularly in early production) with things like HUD, Homelink, Infotainment UX issues or other non-critical areas. But after the drive system and the brakes, I would argue that the keying system is next most important system and needs to be 99% at launch and 99.999% within 6 months. Someone coming from Tesla may accept issues like this but I guarantee you that the non-EV users that Lucid is trying to attract and absolutely needs to survive, will not accept 90% key reliability.

90% is never acceptable. It would bankrupt any company.
People need to chill and this just proves my point with what’s going on in here. You’re piling on with the negative for a statistic we don’t even know. I literally used that as an example and you all started taking it as gospel to argue back.

It could be 10 in 100, 5 in 100, 2 in 100. No one knows accept the people reporting issues in here for something that hasn’t been in people’s driveways for a month and the pitchforks are coming already. It could be 90% today an OTA comes tomorrow and it’s 95% or 98% but less than 4 weeks in people are like “screw this, I’m canceling my order”

The only thing this thread has taught me is to keep my mouth shut on any early issue because people are blowing things way out of proportion without knowing ALL the facts.

NFC cards didn’t work either. They pushed an update to my car (showed 3.2.0 which I already had) but in any case, it resolved the issue. A new update will be coming out in the next day or two addressing this issue among others. This is systematic issue that they are addressing, regardless of how many people are not having problems with their fobs. It just might be that they haven’t been affected “yet”.
Thank you for sharing your update; being a responsible forum member.
I hate to keep harping on this forum versus Reddit or some Facebook groups, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due and recognizing when positive aspects outweigh the negative aspects.

The Reddit post by the Gravity owner "a few days in" has played out like most of social media posts do.
I don't mean to be hard on that redditor, but it happens on social media all the time. I think it's just human nature (what's the bad I need to know about, not the good that I expect everyday).

Part of the problem people have with owners posting about the problems they are having with their car is they don't follow up when those problems are resolved to explain who resolved or how the problems were resolved. Your post is an example of how that rarely happens on this forum. That redditor eventually provided a short follow up after being asked, but the extent of the follow up paled in comparison to their original post. And there aren't any comments with questions about additional updates. People just want problems to go away. They don't care about how, even if it involves action on their part.

Complete perspective and context matters.
Comments on resolutions and next steps by owners and Lucid makes that possible.

Yeah, the larger issue being when the media scour these posts for click bait negative stories. While it is Lucid’s responsibility to keep these hiccups to the absolute minimum possible, it should be our responsibility to not throw meat to the wolves. Mentioning a problem should absolutely be ok here, but the problem doesn’t mean Lucid sucks or is incompetent and that it’s time to cancel the order. .

The Model X Plaid is much quicker and faster.
Maybe I'm getting old but I can't imagine paying extra money and sacrificing range for faster acceleration that I can only use at insane speeds.
Makes me wonder why they didn't include the Model X Plaid instead of the Macan.
Three different 3-row suvs.

Because Tesla has no PR Department lending cars to journalists on a regular basis. Cars seem to be available when a new model is first introduced but not much beyond that.
Tesla gave them a Model S Plaid.
And seeing how the Model X Plaid might have won the race, ... interesting.

MXP vs. GDE may be a coming attraction.

Wow. We just paid our first 6-month premium to State Farm for our GDE: $557.44.
that is an amazing low cost premium. $3500 from CA through GEICO. CA sucks for insurance now.

For what its worth when testing the Sapphire the Hagerty end credits included Lucid and several, what appeared to be, upper end car suppliers but not Tesla. I'm assuming if Tesla supplied the Plaid in that test they would have been mentioned in the credits.

Interesting observation.
Clearly a Tesla Model S Plaid was used.
Same with the Bugati Chiron.

However, neither Tesla or Bugati are mentioned in the credits.
Perhaps the two mentioned are second hand Tesla and Bugati dealers (purchased CPO or previously leased then auctioned).

Gravity Folks - what are your real world efficiency?
I have a GGT on 21/22 Orions. I am averaging 3.2 mi/kw on concrete Texas highways around 70-75 mph. On rough tarmac I am getting 2.9. Around 2.9 around town with lights, mild traffic and 35-45 mph.. It’s as advertised, maybe a little better. That’s radio on, seat coolers, A/c keeping comfy on 95 degree days. A/C nice and strong. Owners manual says efficiency should improve after 2000 miles. I’m not gunning it but not trying for efficiency either. I was curious too

Dude, I just violated my own rule I had made for myself. Natick had a Black/Tahoe DE getting prepped to deliver to an owner in Germany I saw today, and it looked SOOOOO GOOOOD that I switched my order on the spot from Green/Tahoe to Black/Tahoe. I’ll put up with the need to clean it every few days, it just looks staggering in person. I swore I’d never own a black car but it’s too seductive. It’s literally what Darth Vader would drive.
I switched from metallic grey to black. My SA did it for me and told me the probability of receiving it, was in August.

I wish I have a SA like yours. My SA, Bryan, never reply my emails and phone messages. I get a response only when I CC the email to [email protected] after couple of weeks of silence.
Can you get a different SA? Mine actually said to me on the phone, “I hope you’re happy with my updates and want to stick with me!” So apparently you can ask for someone else.

Nice! I’m mulling a change from Stellar White to Aurora Green. I wonder if the same would be true for me. What options are on your build?
