My SA called tonight and offered a GGT that is already in production although not what we ordered. Green, Tahoe interior, 21/22 wheels, and all of the extra packages except technology. He said if we wanted it he could have it here in Philadelphia within 4 weeks. Although that is very close to our order, we declined because we really want the HUD and the smaller wheels. He made it seem like if we change our mind there will be units in production waiting and we could call back. When pressed about the HUD availability, he said “late fall.” Seems like Lucid is hunting for takers of this configuration.

Didn’t think 21/22 would be the early GT as 22/23 is where the $$ is at.

Earlier is better I guess. My SAs haven’t pretended to contact me this year…

I suspect 2/3 of potential Gravity buyers would prefer to wait for the HUD, as the forum poll indicates.

My SA (Scottsdale) called this afternoon with a pretty similar message. When I told him that I would wait for HUD, he told me that he has been hearing that a lot.

Had a similar convo with my SA today. Decided to wait for HUD as well. I suspect DEs have all been scheduled and there is pressure to fill the production line with non-HUD GTs. My SA explicitly laid out the scenario of not getting the GT with HUD till “Dec or early next year” to help me consider the non-HUD path.

Knowing that most buyers will want HUD, is Lucid going to actually produce the 20k total vehicles from their guidance? If so, does that mean they're going to make a lot of GTs hoping people will buy them without HUD? Or will they produce more Airs?

Saudi Gov will buy any left over.....thats why they was a large batch going to the Kingdom.

Curious how hard it would be for them to retrofit the HUD. Sounds like a great middle ground would be to have an “I owe you” on HUDs then owners can gets cars quicker and lucid can sell cars quicker.

Depends on which specific parts are supply constrained. They would have to pre-install a lot of things in the build.... Otherwise, I suggest they sell the non-huds to Airport Limo services, the Gravity is the ultimate replacement for Limo Fleets using gas escalades, Aviators, Expeditions, Yukon Denali's as it would have 30% of the operating cost and more interior room and luxury...

It really sounds like a good idea.

Best news for people like me lol. Would know if Gravity has similar issues as Air although I loved my test drive last weekend. Loved the handling for a SUV (no roll) and the turning radius is better than the Air. Turn Signal Camera view is better. Front and middle seat are very comfortable. The two screens can have different Apps on them.

Did not take to that steering wheel yet. Too small for me but functional. Buttons are different than the Air.

Overall a very short but positive experience.

I believe some may have changed from the DE to the GT like me and those may be the ones they may want to allocate but mine had HUD.

I think they will do like they are doing in KSA and open up the Touring trim, without HUD option of course.

It doesn't seem to me that Lucid needs to find a way to fill an empty production line. The Gravity Dream Edition I ordered the day orders opened and the second Dream Edition I ordered in March still haven't even been assigned VINs or gone into production.

If they need to find something to keep the line occupied, I'd be happy to let him go to work on at least one of my orders. Both our cars are in colors (green and black / Yosemite and Tahoe) and with the wheels (mid-size and large-size) that have been coming off the production line in appreciable numbers.

If I were in lucid shoes 👞 I would not promising fitting HUD after sales are done, it will just complicate things

Better for them to play it safe and it shows more honesty

It would be nice if they surprise owners later on and tell them free HUD is free with installation , that is going to have better customer experience

This seems overly optimistic to me, especially since they have yet to start delivering DE in relatively large quantities.

They've already said that it is not possible to retrofit, as it involves a substantially different wiring harness.

Obviously nothing is impossible, but you'd have to take apart a good amount of the vehicle. I would not expect this as a practical after-market upgrade.

It could happen at the same time. Let's say there are only 200 DEs sold and they ramp to producing 100 vehicles per week; they'll have to start delivering GTs quite rapidly. The unknown is how much KSA demand there is, and if there are ongoing boost circuitry supply chain issues for the US market.

That’s right, even though bunch of DE order holders haven’t gotten VINs, I suspect that a couple hundred DE orders are already accounted for and thus the GTs starting to peek out of production lines already.

Another possibility could be that they might have 400ish DE orders but only enough HUD hardware for 200 at this time. Once those first 200 DE’s are built, they shift to non HUD GGT’s and then filter in additional DE’s as more HUD hardware trickles in.

Do we know if the shipment to SA has HUD or not?
