OTA Update 2.6.16

Could be any number of things:
- Different parts, even within the same model year and trim. Even iPhones do this because they may not be able to source the number of some component they need from one vendor, and another vendor's part might be "close enough." Or in Lucid's case, maybe they ran out of stock of some part that's been discontinued and had to find a replacement. But it does create unexpected divides like this.
- Different settings, like you said. That's a very real and common problem. Each setting exponentially increases the number of combinations to test, so without very rigorous testing processes you will miss some strange and unexpected incompatibilities. Even things that don't seem like they should be in any way related, like say, one person is using built-in Spotify and that causes resource contention (memory usage, network usage, whatever) that changes the timing of some different process.
- Different history. Maybe you have a bunch of nav history that I don't and something going through that list breaks a new update. Ditto with shared contacts from your phone, call history, charging plan enrollment, WiFi networks, anything else that may change over time and varies person to person.
- Different environment. Maybe some component gets a little too hot and behaves differently in 100º weather? Maybe rough roads loosened some cable, not enough to break something completely, but bad enough that something fails 10% of the time, and the previous update didn't use that connection heavily enough for anybody to notice?
Software QA is hard.
My brother-in-law and I received our Tourings in December, 2022. I have had only 1 glitch, a few months ago with the cameras. They towed my car in and fixed the issue. OTOH, my BIL had tons of issues in the first 2 months. He thought he got a lemon. Lucid was practically parked in his driveway. Daniel (tech) finally did a complete erase and reinstall of the software. Since then, he's had smooth sailing.

You are not understanding. The update changed the settings. I already had stop hold turned on. The update turned it off without notification. I find out about it when I'm being honked at from the person behind me because my car is unexpectedly rolling backwards almost causing an accident. Not cool at all.
Others have reported changes in their settings after updates.
I'd check all the drive settings after an update just to be sure.
I know some people also do a reset. Don't remember which reset, though.

That is an interesting solution that we don't often consider is that a total uninstall-reinstall should work like it does often in many other software glitchiness...

It does appear that may be an issue; we don’t know if it’s related to this update but it is appearing more likely. Posting if it’s happened to you and details about your car may help identify it.

This is not new. It’s done this since I bought the car.
I have has the issue of misreading speed signs but what did happen to figure out in my case is that there has been a secondary road parallel to he highway im on and noticed that it was picking up the speed sign on the other road which was slower then the one i was on but shorty it corrected itself when i came up on the speed sign for the road i was actually on.

Did a drive from Stratford CT to Pawtucket RI and back with a side trip through New London, CT for dinner. Had a full car (very full probably 900 to 1000 lbs) of 5 people and rear/front a/c running. Got 3.9 kWh average. However, CarPlay stopped working even with the iPhone connected via USB-C. Lucid navigation worked just fine after unfreezing the infotainment screens by stopping and then re-starting.

DDP worked well but seemed a little more jerky around curves every once in a while. Odd that it was inconsistent like that. Also, it would act like it wanted to take an exit a couple of times. As for the front motor whine — not as noticeable as it was before at 55, 65, 70 on freeway. Nice 300 mile trip with one of my guests commenting that it “felt like an airplane taking off” a couple of times that I needed to accelerate due to other drivers (always in Smooth).

As for CarPlay — after the initial 2.6.16 update it started working wirelessly again (had only worked USB-C before) so it’s looking like I’ll need to do either a soft reboot or remove and reinstall my phone.

Not sure if this is related to 2.6.16, but this never happened before. Went for a short drive (wireless Carplay started right up as I got in the car, which it does about 85% of the time), got back in the car to drive home and Carplay was inactive. Went to the Pilot panel devices screen (after hitting the Carplay button on the cockpit home screen) and Bluetooth was off (mobile key was still connected via Bluetooth which is apparently separate). Pressed the icon slider to turn on Bluetooth and just got a spinning circle.

Short drive home, tried again to turn it on again, same. Did Air reset and Bluetooth was back on and all was well again.

From the release notes for 2.6.16: “Some cars will need to turn Bluetooth back on after this update. Settings > Connectivity > Devices.”

Yep, and I indeed had to do that right after the update days ago. This was different, Bluetooth (infotainment) was disabled, shown as disabled, and would not turn on (just a spinning indicator after trying to turn on). I did not disable it, it died on it's own since Carplay was active when I exited the car just before this occurred. Not that big a deal, just never seen that happen before.

Ohhhh I see. I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification!

He ordered his Touring about 18 months after I ordered mine. If you remember, the $7,500 tax credit back then was only good through the end of the year (2022). He got nervous and changed his order to whatever was available for the tax savings. My guess is that his car was rushed to meet the deadline and not everything was flushed in the firmware. All good now.

Exactly the same thing happened to me today. And as you said in another post I did in fact have to re-enable Bluetooth when I originally did the update.

What is perhaps noteworthy is that after the logo reset, Bluetooth was back on its own. We couldn't enable it by pressing the toggle, but after reset it's already on? Very weird... add it to the laundry list of bugs.

Thanks for the confirmation. And yeah, same for me, did not have to re-enable, it just came back active after the reset.

I'm having this issue occasionally after the update as well.
Sometimes it seems like the car is just "stuck" as I cannot shift into drive or reverse, use turn signals, etc... It will also sometimes think that my front door is open when it's not.

I've tried the Air logo reset 3 or 4 times but this issue still crops up from time to time. I'll probably need to call the Lucid service center to see if they have any fix for this.

Another "confirmed" post from me... happened this morning and required a logo reset. Unsure if the "door open" notification being stuck is the cause, but more likely a symptom of everything being frozen. I opened/closed several times and waited as long as my patience allowed. Audio was also not working but that is not new to this update and I've posted about it several times (https://lucidowners.com/threads/audio-issues.11483/page-7#post-265835).

Im glad to have this place as a resource because every time something happens it seems I can just do a quick search and see it's not just me. But it's getting to be pretty embarrassing to see these things are so wide spread. Its practically a 50/50 whether I'm going to need to logo reset when I get into my car for one reason or another.

These are not "hehe early adopter!" QOL issues, it's just straight broken.

Yeah I brought this up (along with a video for example) with our Houston service center, and they said no one has reported it yet other than me. They asked if I wanted to drop off my car so they can look at it, but I'm not sure I want to go without my car for a few days for something that's probably an OTA update problem that they can't fix.

I wish they could just pull the telemetry from the VIN remotely and analyze ! I would hope there is boot up logging that can be remotely requested and reviewed.

Well if you're actively in touch with someone feel free to throw my hat in the ring and I'll back you up. Just happened for the second morning in a row. This time the door open notification wasn't frozen on the screen, so I think that confirms what I said earlier regarding that being a symptom of a bigger freeze and not the cause.

I waited a good 3-5 minutes sitting there with car functions frozen/audio silent. Can't shift into gear, can turn on directionals. The touch screens respond but the audio doesn't work. At this point I take out my phone to record a video.

Going through all the tests, and midway through showing that the audio doesn't work either everything woke up. I think it was a coincidence and not based that anything that I was pressing, but it was about the time I change audio input from Sirius to Radio (you can hear the directional come on before I pan the camera back over there). This didn't happen yesterday as I wasn't as patient and did a logo reset after a few minutes.

Thanks, that's pretty much my exact problem, though your static clicks are quieter than mine :)

This is a stupid question, but… y’all have your foot on the brake when switching gears?

I’ve never seen anything like this. That’s so weird.

Yes it’s a SOFTWARE PROBLEM!!!!! And yes I am screaming!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
It all started after the latest update…
