Consumer Reports Reliabilty Rankings

Regardless of how you try to spin it, this is bad news for Lucid. You can slice it and dice it any way you want, but this is going to convince a fair number of people that Lucid produces unreliable cars. I was somewhat chagrined to see this rating, but went ahead, rolled the dice and ordered a Lucid. But I am retired and having to take a loss on a bad auto purchase decision isn't going to kill me. Car purchase decisions are a lot more crucial and stressful for most other people.

I’m sure you’ll love your Lucid. I don’t think they gave Lucid a fair shake. Would love to hear how much you love your Lucid when you receive it.

I have long been a subscriber to Consumer Reports but I rarely agree with their results. I have had various products that far out perform CR's reports. This is just one more example.

I'm seeing this as a lateral move from my e-tron GT. Some things will be better, some will be worse. I'm sure it will be a great car that is fun to drive. It won't be perfect, and how that manifests will dictate how great a car it is.

I do not subscribe to CR. I am not sure that its utility for consumers has kept pace with information available in a simple cost-free search for timely information. I will not rate the CR methodology and cannot address its review. I will assume that it is perfectly objective in its choices of model year and sample size. I only know that after over two years and 35k miles, my AGT, while not Porsche-perfect in panel fit, has been reliable and exceeds all the attributes I want in a large sedan. Lucid's customer service culture is commendable and at least comparable to my prior experience with mostly bulletproof Porsches, Audis, MBs, and BMWs. The OTAs have been impressive. If CR did not review OTAs it missed a major point about Lucid. Car choices are subjective and objective, clinical analyses probably do not address the aspects that informed auto buyers may want to know.
