I’m setting up a charging solution at home and narrowed it down to two options — the Tesla Wall Connector and the Tesla Mobile Charger:

Wall Connector

Mobile Charger

The Wall Connector looks like a more permanent, high-powered setup with smart features, while the Mobile Charger feels more flexible and travel-friendly.
If you’ve used either (or both!), I’d love your honest feedback.

As a current tesla MY owner and Volvo EV40 we have 2 charing setups in my home garage. When you bought Teslas a few years ago you got the "portable' charging cord so I have one and I keep it in the car, now. When I leased my MY last year I got Testa credits and used them for a Tesla wall charger. Bought a50-amp dryer cord and connected permanently to the wall charger and mounted it close to the 50 amp wall socket. For my wife's car it came with a free Chargepoint wall box capable of 60 amps input so added another circuit to my electrical panel only this is 60 amps and not the NACS Tesla plug. I've got the best of both worlds. But only because both wall boxes were basically free. As to the fancy Tesla wall box it did not charge any better/differnently than the cord did. I'd recommend a 60 amp circuit and decide on either a 50amp outlet or a hardwired wall box. And as I look and make decisions about the serious possibility of a Lucid, I'm covered either way.

Long term is always best to use a wall connector, hard wired, plus added bonus of higher power to the car which equals shorter charging times. Also good to have a mobile charger in vehicle for unexpected charge needs in a remote area.

Buy the wall connector, hardwired and on a 220v, 60 amp circuit for the one you had the link for. The max amperage pull should be no more than 80% of the circuit rating so a 60 amp circuit will allow you to pull the 48 amps. If you have a mobile charger, keep it available for distance trips.

I use both hardwired wall attached one at home and mobile one on the roads.

This is what I do (for my Audi). I keep a portable charger in my car, which is for emergencies, and also for when we visit our summer cottage. At home, I have a hardwired ChargePoint Homeflex, which is a smart charger with lots of bells and whistles. Well after three years, I can tell you I have used the smart features exactly once. If I had it to do again, I would save myself a few hundred bucks and find a simple but well made wall charger from one of the third party manufacturers. And I would always have my home charger hardwired.

This is for a Gravity?

Get the Tesla Universal wall charger - it has the NACs connector obviously, but also has the universal adapter integrated into the dock. That’s what I went with and now I can charge whatever car I end up with in the future. It’s only slightly more than the NACS only version, and is still half the price of Lucid’s.
