Price now reduced by $7500

Perhaps not as bad, but it does remind me of the almost daily Tesla price changes. Good luck getting them to credit you for a price decrease announced the day after your delivery.

Is the base price on your Touring the legacy 95k? Or is it the new 107.4k?
I had the legacy 95k pricing, but I haven't taken delivery yet. Sorry to hear that it's not honored for already delivered vehicles :(

Just this morning at 10:18am EST I received an email from Lucid Sales thanking me for completing my payment on my Lucid Air Touring that I am scheduled to pick up next Friday Feb 17 at the Chicago facility. A story announcing the $7,500 discount on some models was announced on Seeking Alpha at 9:28 roughly an hour before the email thanking me for paying for my Touring Air. I messaged my DA promptly to request the $7,500 discount since I have not taken delivery of the vehicle and it is the only fair and equitable course of action. I haven't heard a response yet but I certainly hope we get started on the right foot. It has been quite difficult to stay the course with Lucid given all of the stories I have studied on this forum. Untangling the contract at this time could be messy. I don't know if I could count on a company who wouldn't extend a discount they offered freely to a customer who paid for an undelivered vehicle. I don't know..... I hope to share good news unless a non-disclosure is involved
I think you should be able take advantage of this, as long as you haven't taken delivery as of today

My DA hasn't gotten back to me yet but what a shame. Again, hindsight is 20/20 but I would definitely have delayed delivery till after this past Sunday!

File this under weird. I changed my configuration last year removing SSP and glass since they were not going to produce my car in time for the tax credit to apply. So, now I just talked to my DA who told me that if I add the glass back in for $4000, I will likely qualify for the $7,500 credit they are giving. They are essentially going to pay me $3500 to get a glass roof now lol

That's because they want to move cars. Take that deal!! 😂

Oh, don't you worry about it! I am taking it! Honestly, I don't really care about the glass. I don't really value it other than it looks kinda cool. The biggest negative I have about it is the cost when it needs to be replaced due to a rock hitting the windshield. Unfortunately, where I live, that happens somewhat frequently. But, since they are going to pay me $3500 to get the glass, I figure they are covering my first replacement for me! 🤯

So, what is this mean for us whomsoever is still waiting for the car to deliver, do we get extra 7500 on the old listing price I hope?
I just spoke with my DA. He was happy to announce that I would be getting the $7500 price reduction off of my legacy priced Touring. Woohoo!! DA said I will be getting a new purchase agreement ASAP. I will confirm when I get it.

I'd see if I can increased the glass and/or windshield coverage in my insurance policy too.

Here's a thought: Whenever I buy anything, I consider whether the price is fair for what I am getting. If the answer is no, I don't buy. If it's yes I buy. After that, I stop thinking about it.

Once I've signed an agreement saying I'll pay X, I just pay X. I don't get mad if the company sells it for less the next day, week, or whatever. I also don't get happy if they're selling it for more a week later. It's in the past. I agreed to a price and I'm happy to stand by it.

Thinking about past purchase decisions is a recipe for a heart condition.

Lucid is doing this to help Lucid. If it benefits you, great. They didn't have to do it, just as you don't have to buy the car. If it pisses you off some people are getting lower prices and others aren't, then don't buy. Pretty simple.

Of course they want to move some GTs, and that's the primary reason for this change. They also would rather get a few folks to kick up to a Touring, since they are producing Touring right now, so why not crank out a few extra hundred of those?

It makes little sense to lower the price of Pure, given they have tens of thousands of reservations and they can't possibly fill them all this year. Simple economics. Don't like it, cancel. Someone later on the list will be glad you did.

@joec I know you're right, and I'm happy with my car, but still smarts a little that I missed the cutoff by like 4 days. Here's to hoping that the IRS will allow my tax credit (which I will discuss no further in this thread).

I was happy with the price I paid at the point but with the extremely small number of customers they have at this point they are better off eating the small loss versus having very unhappy customers bad mouthing them. This is especially important since the entire price was set based on some random order when they delivered the car and not based on when the customer ordered or confirmed.

I received my purchase agreement last night. It did not reflect any credit. I just reached out to my DA in hopes of getting the $7500 credit…I will report back when I hear from her! Fingers crossed!

There is nothing wrong with people feeling bad about taking delivery of a car a day or two before it was reduced by $7,500. Lucid can do what’s good for Lucid and people can be bummed about it and they can both exist at the same time.

I have two friends who bought Teslas within a week after Elon reduced prices. I told them both “that sucks” because it does. That doesn’t mean that Tesla owes them anything or that Tesla is a bad company, it just sucked for them because their timing was a little off. I think it’s called empathy.

Just had two emails from my DA. They will honor the discount since I haven't taken delivery but I have to take delivery by 3/31/23. Okay... my car is available to pick up a week from tomorrow in Chicago. A new sales contract is coming. My pricing was from my reservation of 10/22/2021.

Assuming everything goes as planned, this makes me feel like they are a company that has a reasonable sense of equity. Price decreases in business always angers someone but execution details are stringent and disciplined. I am thankful I did not have to entertain how to unwind the deal. Others may have a different sense of equity but mine is satisfied.

Agreed mine as well. One of the reasons why I made my first post about my payment experience is to help others here with this. I'm glad Lucid is doing the right thing. Happy customers go a long way and they probably got a bunch of Pure folks to upgrade today. More cars out is a win.

Yeah---I'm in the same boat, and had the identical thought: never felt the glass roof was worth $4000, at least not to me.

But if they effectively pay me $3500 to put one on, I probably will...

It seems pretty arbitrary to leave the metal roof crowd out in this. When I ordered my car a year ago I was told I'd have it late Q3 of '22.
