I had a general question question for all current Lucid air owners

Did you get the 2.0.35 update that just came out? That fixed the ACC Wobblies for me. Text service about the navigation, there’s a module under the seat that needs to be disconnected and reconnected.
has anyone had issues develop after 2.0.35 update?

Hi there. Have a few questions if you don’t mind.

1) Did you have a L2 charger installed at home and if so, which brand and electrical contractor did you use?

2) Did you tint any of the exterior glass (front, top, sides, and back)? If so care to share the tint values and how that has been working for you? Trying to see if the Houston sometimes hot weather may be mitigated with the tint.

3) Did you have the front license plate installed, given Texas requires it but not always enforced?

Preparing to take delivery of mine now. Thanks
My Air is plated in Texas.
I've never used a front plate for any car. Living in Richardson, and now Frisco. 22 years in Texas with no issues. 7 years in CA same thing.

There are others who will indicate they got pulled over immediately for no front plate.

Now working in SC, I have a car registered here and they don't require a front plate. So I have one car with no front plate that is legal.

Yes, all updated but I’ll try the module under seat.
Thanks and I’ll keep you updated.

So I have been on this forum for couple months now , learning alot about this new company. I am share holder and also have a Touring model on reservation. I am really concerned with all the mechanical issues I am reading about on this forum. Cars needing a new battery pack and Motors at 3-7k miles…I totally understand , it’s their first year and they will eventually get this right….I currently own a 2018 Model S and never had any issues with my car ( knock on wood 😊)
So I would like to know if there is any member here with over 7k miles who is Fortunate enough not to have any mechanical issues with their cars….I am just trying to figure out if these failures are on a certain batch of cars that was produced earlier. I just don’t want to want to get a car and have it fail on me that’s all 😞
8000 plus miles, have had more than my share of issues, (Battery, Shock-tilt, and now monitors), but still love the car. I went thru the same with Tesla, and while Customer service is trying their best, I think they are still having issue with communicating with the software team to diagnose the real issues. Having spent $150K on this one, as well as $2K more on additional contracts, my other major concern from the start has been the release of the autonomous driving which has not been addressed. Not that I want a chauffeur, but I would like some access to what I paid for and that cant be the Dreamdrive. Sadly, to this point, I just keep it turned off, so I don't have to constantly wrestle with it. In any case when they get there, it will be great!!

4 brake system fails within 2 miles. came here to see if anyone else?
To be clear, I think that’s one brake system fail that a reboot didn’t cure, not 4 individual brake system failures - it’s not like you fixed the brakes between failures. I think you need to talk to service to get that fixed.

Coming up on 14k miles with no mechanical issues. Have driven the Air from coast to coast and in 20 states so far. All my issues concerns have been software related.
Bill55, with all the driving you've done across many states, how are you managing charging on your road trips? Has EA been okay, or a problem for you? And if it's the latter, how have you overcome that? Thanks!

Crossed 7k miles,
I had a Frunk realignment, which was done at my detailer's shop while PPF was being installed.

My USB-C is intermittent and so that's being replaced by service, but that's mostly it.

Minor issues I'd say, and still super happy with the car!

Also during my DC to Utah road trip, had no issues with EA, plug and play worked perfectly.

Now I just need sentry mode!

So I am curious now. Which lucid logged the most miles and in how many months?

Hi there. Have a few questions if you don’t mind.

1) Did you have a L2 charger installed at home and if so, which brand and electrical contractor did you use?
I used WallBox since it has Bluetooth. My garage does not have WiFi..,Works great and gives me a summary of monthly charges and $$ costs based upon what I pay per Kw.
2) Did you tint any of the exterior glass (front, top, sides, and back)? If so care to share the tint values and how that has been working for you? Trying to see if the Houston sometimes hot weather may be mitigated with the tint.
I did not tint the glass, but I did buy removable panels that have suction cups on them that go on the interior roof glass. Works great when it’s very sunny outside in Cali. and easy to take off when not needed.
3) Did you have the front license plate installed, given Texas requires it but not always enforced?
I bought a front license plate sticker. Love it. Looks just like a bolt on plate and it’s legal.

6,500 miles since April ’22, zero mechanical issues and I have all software updates. However, I would have been in a world of hurt multiple times if I did not have a back up car. In addition, not of my own doing or preference, but I’d approximate that I drive without music/news approx 40% of the time. Lucid service techs both 800# and in person have been wonderful. Unfortunately they have been to my house approx 5X and have had to reboot my car remotely several times. I personally could not recommend the Lucid, as great as it is when working, as one’s sole means of transportation, too unreliable, which I am assuming is due to software glitches. I am no EV or software expert, nor do I want to be, I just want a $150K car to get me from A to B in a reliable fashion. No need to attack me and I am not attacking Lucid, and I do believe they are trying very hard to incrementally improve their product, I am simply relaying my personal experience.

Since .35 I have had two occurrences where I have lost the ability to use the nav system. Both times the service center had to do the backseat module fix which takes about ten minutes to fix. This has been after an update. Overall the software is greatly improved but far from perfect.

Was the issue a module that keeps needing to be reset for the audio? I’m just curious what else made the car not driveable as a daily driver where you needed another car as backup. No attacks here, sorry for your bad experience, just trying to learn about issues and things to watch out for (for example frunk closure issues have happened with several owners and my car started doing that once in awhile so I’m having service look at it). I have 12,500 on mine, most problems have been trim issues easily fixed.

I hear your frustration and sorry you have had repeated failures. I too have a backup vehicle but mainly for trips into the mountains where I need high clearance , off road capabilities. I thought I would be using my other vehicle much more frequently here during winter but honestly for local excursions I have only needed my Subaru once.

For my edification, I would love to learn about what failures you have experienced so that I can be prepared in the event it happens to me.

I have owned for about 4.5 months and my only software “ failure “ thus far has been the need for a nav reset. Of course, there are glitches and frustrations ( I really hate the HVAC system ) and Alexa is useless ( for me anyway ). I don’t have as miles as you and future problems may be somewhat inevitable, but knowledge is power!! Thanks and I hope things improve for you .😊

Was the navigation system problem that it would not navigate at all? What is the backseat module fix?

Well I have to rescind my mostly trouble free status from Nov 28 when my battery started to throw fault codes At 13500 miles. Lucid replaced it no problem. Car is running fine and I know that being a beta tester will have its ups and downs. Any one here know what a new battery pack goes for just out of curiosity?
