ALL TEXAS OWNERS (or future owners) please post on this thread

I used Essential Electric, have had two 14-50 plugs installed by them in different locations. If I had known then I would be getting an Air, would have went with a 100a breaker for the LCHCS.
Do you pls by any chance have their contact number? Attempted to search online and saw all sorts of information that does not match up. Thanks

The other question that pops into my mind and still wondering are:

1) How do you handle charging two EVs in the house? Do you install a second outlet or charging station or do you just share one between the two cars?
We have 2 EVs. Air first, Polestar2 is 2nd, we often just Lvl-2 charging on Air, Lvl-1 charging oj Polestar 2, if Air doesn’t need to be charged, Polestar 2 gets lvl-2. I think 1 charger is enough for 2 cars.
2) Is it worth taking a GAP and/or Mechanical insurance protection coverage with the auto loan? The bank is offering that as an option. Not sure if that is just a money grab. For our ICE cars, we took gap at the time but never used until it expired…lol. Not sure if it would matter for EV cars that may be significantly more expensive to repair post OWM warranty period.
Never paid for it. I suppose it’s like Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI), if you can afford to take risk, don’t need it.
3) Is paint protection absolutely necessary especially. I would be more concerned about rock chip damage to the glass than I would be to the body. At some point, there is so much you can do to keep the body like new, it’s just a car…but glass crack or chips, is a different thing for me since it has a potential to distort line of sight when driving.
It is necessary. I never done it before, but my brother did it to both his Tesla and advised me to do the same. I plan to keep Air for a very long time, therefore I did it to keep it always looking new.
I don’t think paint protection should cost more than 6% of vehicle, since it is expensive product, only does it on exotic cars.
Sorry for the long post, just a million questions flying through my mind now in preparation for delivery which is close now.
Good questions.

Anyone planning to be at the Lucid Holiday Open House tomorrow? I plan to show up in the Houston service center. The email states the event will hold until 2pm. Hopefully, some of us on this forum can meet up and get to acquaint and place faces to the aliases:)

For real? Haven’t gotten any notice? Can you post screenshot?

I've now joined the club of Lucid Texas OWNERS! No longer a future owner but an actual OWNER. It's been a long day and I'm forcing myself to walk away from the car lol.

Apologies, just seeing your request…

Just coming from there and apparently the service center in Houston did not participate in the holiday events. They were turning folks back. The lucid staff said only the studios participated and that would be the Plano location. No regrets that I went since I was able to see the different colors and trims (mine is still in final inspection there so was not available for viewing). I also had the opportunity to talk to the AFS detailing shop to get an estimate.

BTW - the lucid staff I met stated that the rooftop glass is already tinted for UV protection but AFS thinks otherwise and we’re recommending full tint uv and heat protection. Not sure who is right…lol

I did my PPF and Ceramic at AFS, but there are other more competitive pricing around town.

I used Gulf Coast Auto Shield.

I am talking to Gulfcoast Auto as well. Very nice gentleman.

BTW - were you responsible for titling of vehicle or did Lucid file on your behalf?
Lucid came tinted, but Ingot even more tint for summer.

I have a question for our TX owners regarding final payment... Essentially when and how did you pay? I'm assuming TX deliveries are going through Houston for the final make-ready. Owners can most likely do their final inspection and acceptance at the Houston SC or can now have it transported to the Plano Studio for final inspection and acceptance. Does the final delivery location impact the payment process? Got a call from my DA saying I should be getting my VIN for my Black / Tahoe Touring nlt 12/16, which doesn't bode well for an EOY delivery. I would be willing to pick it up in Houston if it makes it there by the EOY, but more likely will have it delivered to Plano in January. I'm sure my DA (when he gets back from medical LOA) will be working the payment discussion with me, but I was curious as to how this has worked for TX deliveries... Thanks.
I live in Yantis (80/90 miles east of Plano). Initially they wanted to Lyft me from here in Yantis to Plano but I explained to the rep that was an unlikely scenario because getting a driver to come out here would be untenable. Ultimately, they just shipped the car to me on the same carrier they use to get cars from Houston to Plano (private transport service). They delivered today. Once it's in Houston things go very fast. Even the transporter looked over the car for issues before transport. They then did a virtual walk-thru via FaceTime. All-in-all a pretty decent process.

Just got car back from detailer yesterday. Really pleased to (i) finally drive the car, and (ii) am extremely happy with how their work came out. Powder coated rims, tint throughout, blacked out roof trim, rear mirrors as well as base trim. PPF and ceramic coated as well including interior. Sheer joy driving it around yesterday. Best to all!View attachment 7152View attachment 7153
This is similar to what I'd like to do - stealth out the roof and mirrors. I'm tempted to do the front as well.

Question about titling and registering the vehicle in Texas - (Form 130-U Rev 02/22)
  1. What was your actual mileage when you picked up the car (Q9)
  2. What is the "Empty weight" of the car (Q11)
  3. Wanted to confirm, for Q38 (Sales price), that should be the AGT MSRP ($139,000) and not the total Lucid collected (destination dfee, etc), correct? $8687.5
Question about Tinting
What tint specs did you do on the:
  • windshield,
  • driver side,
  • front passenger,
  • back passenger glass
  • top roof glass canopy
Thanks all. Just awaiting my delivery pickup confirmation, now that I have fully funded.

There are a number of ways to look at this - and I'm not starting an argument. By definition - all automobile windshields have essentially 100% UV protection. Additing more protection won't impact UV. However, you can add tint and that will cut down on heat. I'm not sure about tinting the roof glass - seems a bit redundant but I guess it depends on how hot it becomes in the summer and what kind of impact tinting the windows will have. We can get into a whole discussion on UVA vs UVB etc. I'm sure the tinters would love to put as much tint as humanly possible. Mo money!

Anybody could recommend a Tint shop in the Houston area that can do tint on a new Lucid Air.. I got a quote from AFS North Houston….They quoted me $995 to do all windows except for the roof and windshield….Windshield was $700 and roof was $995…This is for their top Ceramic tint….Almost $3k 😵‍💫😵‍💫
I work at a dealership and get it for way less, but my guys as never worked on a Lucid…So I rather try to get a deal elsewhere with a Company that is familiar with the car. I am hoping the shop will be in the Houston area.

Thanks

Try Gulf Coast Auto Shield. They did my DE Xpel film, ceramic coating, window tint and radar detector.
