Would you still buy a Lucid Air living over 600 miles away of a service center?

They still give loaners in Dallas and the service center is in Houston.
Same state. So that tracks. If you live in Alabama for instance and nearest service center is Georgia, no loaner will be provided. You get to pick from your local Enterprise.

Oh you mean a Lucid Air loaner. They have them in Dallas but supply is limited. I've never gotten one. Always from Enterprise.

After hours and hours reading forums and watching videos about Lucid, I am still not very confident to pull the trigger. My biggest gripe is about the build quality . After reading many posts, my conclusion is that the vast majority of the issues are minor and are taken care by Lucid . However, the closest service center from me is 625 miles away. It is very hard to asses reading posts about the percentage of the new units affected by one or more minor issues but it does not seem to be very low. So my I would like to count with the honesty of this group. I understand that most of you are in love with the car and really want Lucid to thrive but I would kindle ask an honest and as unbiased as possible answer .

If you know what you know today, would you still buy a Lucid Air living over 600 miles away of a service center ?

Thanks !!!
NO I have one few miles from me and I got the Air on November 27 and have had to visit the service center 3 times already, 1 cause it went off line and needed a hard reset 2, the the coolant heater pump failed, and 3 its back in there again as its off line! again and needs a hard reset

What model year and which model Air? Did you buy new or used?

@kamleshpoza what model and where did you buy your car? Was it new or used?

Absolutely not.
Perhaps Lucid is willing to provide a loaner and flatbed the car for service? Obviously absent that I would be a “no” also until there is a closer service option.

@OP, if you really want an honest answer only...get it!
Look at my purchases :)

I've had a 2023 Air Touring purchased in Mar 2023 (< 2 years old). It has needed service twice - once a few months in (minor / annoyance fixes done in my driveway by the remote tech), 2nd time was last week for similar, plus TSB issues (like the sound system, squeaks, etc). This time (because of weather) they scheduled it at KoP service center. They provided flatbed pickup+delivery and a rental car. I don't know if they do that under all circumstances (ie MY, Lease vs. Buy, proximity to Service Center, etc).

That said:
  • I may be in the minority having had no urgent service issues and only 2 visits in 2 years.
  • I am retired - and the Lucid is a "fun car" not a necessary means of transportation for work or other
In your position - where the car is a needed for work, I would give a resounding no. When you require your car to be near 100% reliable for work and probably have time constraints for those business trips (ie taking an hour to hit a fast charger would be an issue) - a Lucid (or really any BEV) would not be a great option.

Does Toyota still make the Avalon ? ?

New owner here. Closest center was 100 miles away, but here in Colorado we had 3 snowstorms in a row and didn't want to risk it so they picked her up for the 2 year servicing.
Chicago is the service department hub that organizes a 3rd party servicing in Denver. They came and picked it up on an open and exposed flat-bed 3rd-party towing service for free.

It's been "in the shop" for 2 weeks now in Denver, mostly left outside in a dirt parking lot in the back at a sketch collision center in Englewood, so I'm not super excited, and they broke the steering wheel shroud and had to replace that, but hey, new parts I guess. One of my woofers was also dead, so they ordered and replaced that. More free parts is nice.

I haven't received my car back yet so I don't know how good the servicing was yet, or if my ceramic colored carpets are pristine or muddied? Not sure.

TSBs were covered, as was the towing service. I should have just drove it myself I guess, and got a rental.

I knew this going-in that it'd be lightly annoying, but I have a 2nd car so it's not too big a deal.

For 1111Hp, I'd say it's worth the annual checkover. As Lucid expands, there will be likely a few more service stations.

Lucid offered me also a free loaner which I declined, so service is well above-average for courtesy.
