I just subscribed to Apple Music. I tried to run the Apple Music Spacial Audio speaker test via Android Auto, and for each test point, the sound only seems to come out of the same speaker. Music will play, but it sounds like it's running mono. Am I doing something wrong, or will I not be able to run Spacial Audio (aka Dolby Atmos?) this way? It worked fine with Tidal, but of course, that was a built-in app.

Bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth to support hi res audio formats as far as I know

It's not a bandwidth issue. Bluetooth takes the input sound converts it over a Kodak and transmits it to your Bluetooth receiver and then that Bluetooth receiver converts it into something we eventually hear. So we would need a Bluetooth Kodak that supports multi-channel sound and that could then take it from the various different audio streaming services and convert it into something that our car could read and spit out into. Multi-channel. And then there's all the problems with all the backward compatibility issues and yada.

Kodak=Codec

Apple Music cannot do Spatial Audio in the Lucid over CarPlay. It most definitely can't do it over Android Auto, either. Native app or no.

AFAIK, it is technically possible to do Spatial Audio in CarPlay, but Lucid has not yet implemented that. The same is true for sharing the car's current range over CarPlay in order to help with route planing and charging stops. That's also possible, as demonstrated by Ford and others. But Lucid needs to implement it first.

The only way to get surround sound over your SSP sound system in any Lucid remains Tidal for now. Technically it can also be done over USB, but good luck acquiring any actual Dolby Atmos encoded files for any major label music.

You can get these all day, but our cars don't support MP4s 😭
