Has anybody installed a protection film on the windshield?

I've had so many windshields replaced over the years due to rock chips. I don't want to deal with that on this massive windshield.
 
Going to install Windshield PPF in 2 weeks. I'll report back.

I have ExoShield (sprint) protection film on my canopy windshield. I’m very happy with the product and peace of mind it provides. It is virtually invisible but for a slight line where the windshield curves into the canopy. Some people notice a slight waviness in the glass. It doesn’t really bother me but my wife notices it. I believe the installed cost was around $500.
 
It's the slight waviness that's a problem for me, I tend to find that sort of thing annoying. I seem to recall that one of the people with multiple Lucids had a better result with their newest car, after complaining to the applying company about the less desirable outcome of windscreen protection in their first Lucid. Can't remember who that was, though.

ExoShield has several different types of film at various price points. The “sprint” product I went with was the cheapest film. The installer did mention the waviness as a potential issue and had me look through that film and the upgraded product side by side. I saw no difference so I went with sprint. It is however noticeable by my wife. I would recommend looking at both films side by side (and maybe bringing your wife along). My recollection was that the upgraded film was a couple hundred bucks more. Either way a good investment considering the cost of a new glass canopy. And even if replacement glass is covered by insurance you’ll pay for it in future premiums.
 
Do they provide any kind of glass coverage if your windshield gets broken with the film in place?

I had the XPEL WPF installed a couple months ago and it's holding up well. they don't have a sheet big enough to go all the way to the back of the canopy. but that single piece goes up above the visors and that's enough for me, so I did not have them attach an additional piece to cover the whole canopy.

none of these are perfect and there is a bit of wavy distortion here and there but I'm fine with it. the installers did a great job and there are no bubbles.

I got exoshield.

Increased by deductible to 2.5k on glass, thus will pay for exoshield in 1.5 years.

I like the piece of mind. Haven’t had a rock chip since. But there was some waviness and got used to it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
