Looking to have a radar detector and power inverter hard wired. Any suggestions on where to get a wiring diagram from. All the install companies don’t have this vehicle. Like Best Buy and audio shops for some reason

@borski did something like this.

You can find a fuse diagram here:

And an example where someone tapped here: https://lucidowners.com/threads/playlist-and-usb-music.8278/post-200333

Hi Borski! thanks for the wealth of knowledge, where can we get the wool linen and where do u place it exactly? can you recommend best radar detector for lucid air?

You can’t get the wool linen; I have a roll of the fabric for the DE interior, which I used to upholster the screen housing. I am happy to share that cloth with anyone who needs it for similar things. How I got it is best left as an exercise to the reader. :p

In terms of the stealthiest for laser, definitely Stinger with the fiber optic lasers.

For radar, it doesn’t really matter; they’re all fine. Even the windshield mounted ones.

As for “best” — that’s too subjective. Stinger and ALP are effective for laser. There are a lot of threads on this forum about radar; feel free to search them.

Are you talking about a portable detector that you want to hard wire or a permanent concealed installation?

If the latter, my installer found that the best power pickup point was off this power outlet (under the cover to the right of the trunk lower storage bay cover). He said this was the only power tap that was switched to power down fully with the car:

ok understood yes this is the only 12v connection in the lucid air unfortunately its in the trunk, are they connecting it there or to the fuse box under the glove box directly at the source?

I have been very happy with my Uniden R7 radar detector. I run custom firmware on my R7, but you don't really need to do that unless you want to. I use this mount. https://bartallama3d.design/

Lot of people tapped the mirror and it is fairly easy to do so. I am just using USB to 12v converter and that works flawlessly for my needs.

I don't remember the details, but he connected to the wire feeding the trunk outlet. There was some reason he didn't use the fusebox, but I don't remember what it was. Since there were rear radar antennas and rear laser detectors, he was running wiring to the back of the car, anyway.

I’ve had the GT with and escort 360, for 2.5 yrs now, But I bought 20 foot extension cable, plugged it into rear lighter switch and ran it under plastic pieces to front of car, it does turn off after leaving vehicle.

is it better to keep it on? do you turn it off manually to not drain the battery though?

If you plug it into rear lighter, it automatically shuts down when car closes.
