What's the most PSI you've ever put into a road car tire?

I stopped in at my local SC earlier this week; the low tire pressure warning came up on my dash for the front tires (presumably due to rapid temp drop off) and I happened to be across the street from the SC so I figured they could top me off. They had me in and out in 5 minutes.
Fast forward two days and I get another tire pressure warning, this time for the rear tires, which I guess they didn't bother with since the previous warning was only for the front. Would have been nice if they'd hit them all... but I'm glad they didn't because they'd somehow filled up my front right with 86 PSI!! Verified this with my compressor at home .

This is dangerous. Tires usually have a max PSI rating. Anything above that could results in a blast.

They did same to me, i called them and they fixed there gauge after

One of my Hertz ICE sedans had 60 psi for one of the front tires,
Very frequently, these rentals, however, are under-inflated, sometimes severely so.
For last several years now, I always have a portable inflator with me and check the pressures before driving off.
Finding a gas station with air sometimes isn't that easy, and the last time I checked, it'd cost $ 2-3 for limited time.

That was like 15 years ago but my wife once complained about a warning light on her Prius. I checked and told her it’s the TPMS and asked her to pump up the tires at a gas station. She did and 2 weeks later she said the light is still on.

I checked and all 4 tires were at around 85 psi. She said she kept adding air because the light did not turn off. The TPMS light was on because the tires were about to explode. I was surprised the tires hold up for 2 weeks. They were Michelin Primacy MXV4.

I can’t tell you how many times that dealership techs have aired my tires to the max on the tires, thinking that is what it needs to be. Amazing…..

Wow that has to be a record! I’m surprised it didn’t go boom.
Test drove a used M3 years ago at a BMW dealer. The ride was brutal. I told the salesman that there was something wrong. He assured me that it was fully inspected and certified and that I wasn’t used to a performance car. So I asked them to check the tire pressure. Sure enough 65 psi all around. Adjusted pressure to the correct mid 30’s and we tried again. Still terrible. Then I remembered reading a post about someone still having the shipping blocks installed on the suspension. After much debate they finally had a service tech check. Found 4 deformed shipping blocks all around. Car had 20k miles. So some poor soul drove it this way thinking it was ok for more than a year. Fast forward a couple years and I take delivery of a new G80 M3. I get about a mile away from the dealer and realize the ride is not what it should be. Yep they left the shipping blocks installed. Apparently this is a very common issue despite a large sticker stuck somewhere that is unavoidable alerting them that these must be removed during PDI.

That's wild! The terrible ride must mean it's sporty

I guess a lot of people know that performance vehicles have a harsher ride, but then their knowledge stops at that point.
