Kia EV9, future Air?
Hi, everybody. My parents are looking into a third car for the family to replace our aging 2006 Honda Accord, and I will be using this car. As we were discussing this, it became clear that the cheapest way to do this, by far, was to lease an EV, seeing the massive lease deals that have been present on them. With this conversation, the Air naturally (and thankfully!) came up, and we are now looking into leasing it.

However, I've noticed that on the website, 36 month Pure leases are 529 a month, with Tourings at 549 (is there any reason not to go for the touring?). My question to you all, not having been monitoring Lucid prices for a long time: Are the great 18 month lease prices gone, and have lease prices risen since last year? I vaguely remember Pures being 400 a month, although I may be wrong. Thank you!

If it's any useful reference, my Touring I leased starting April 24th, and has 18 month @ $536 a month, I put 7K down. There are more incentives at this time this year with Air Credit, (my on-site was 5K + 7.5 EV credit), and conquest and etc. If you are in NJ I think you would get the Touring and have more options to spec with, you can basically get a free glass roof:)

I agree, and it was very useful, but isn't 7k down a bit high for a lease? With heated and ventilated seats (which is a bare minimum for us..), the cheapest 36 month lease I could find is 704 on Lucid's inventory page. We hate to admit it, but the Model 3 with its 299 a month lease price is looking pretty good.

If Lucid did have a 400/month Pure though, we would almost certainly get it! This is why I am asking if there are any deals in the near future.

You'd be best off asking at your local studio. I have heard of rates that low, but they were on demo Pures that had been sitting around for a while. Not even sure if they were on the website.
I haven't been paying close attention, but from the hubbub (or lack thereof) I think the deals have been pretty stable recently aside from the recent incentive for upgrading from a Tesla.

Thank you for the help, that makes a lot of sense. I did search for demo cars on the inventory site, but I’m not sure that’s accurate, as you stated. Therefore, would you suggest simply calling them or visiting? We’d easily lease an Air at 400/month, and I hope we can find one!

Also, what estimate for the lease price of a demo Touring would you give, in comparison to the Pure?

Either way, call or visit, shouldn't make a difference.
I haven't personally heard of a Touring demo lease, no idea there.
Also I don't know how it changes the equations for you, but Pures are going for the mid 50s on the preowned market. You just might have to road trip to pick it up since there aren't that many.

It sounds like you can buy the Tesla for much cheaper. No? Or are you negotiating with US 😂🤦‍♂️🤔

I used the recent lease deals to enter into my first ever lease… Took delivery in January… as someone who always owned my cars and never even considered leasing… I fell victim to the test drive of the Air Touring and pulled the trigger.

Almost always had some decent equity in my cars over the years, the Model S was not one of them, at least for me, partly my fault for bad car market timing but partly because it was a Tesla coming up on the end of its warranties.
It cost me a little bit to jump to the Lucid (~1k) but it felt like good money to spend.
I took an available car and went with the Touring.

To me, I view leasing as just paying for depreciation, so I approached leasing by paying as little as possible up front, of course this is easier if you can afford the higher monthly payment.

So far I am extremely happy with the car and I cannot recommend it enough, people are simply missing out.

Thank you for the warm reception! How kind of you to provide a totally constructive and helpful response. Yes, you can buy the Tesla for cheaper, but we’d be willing to pay more for the Lucid, as it is simply a better car.

Also, you do realize that I am a MASSIVE Lucid fan, not a Tesla troll, right? Look at my message count if you want evidence…

I agree with everything you’ve said, and your car is gorgeous! It also seems like you got it in the only correct color, which makes it even better. What lease deals were available in January, if you don’t mind answering? Man… its been so much time since I was monitoring Lucid 24/7 that I don’t even know this!

I also brought up the idea of a used car, but my parents are unfortunately opposed to that. We will be calling both Short Hills and KOP (as I assume they have greater inventory, being in a major area?).

Honestly I did not see your post count until you pointed it out. And the date you first participated in this forum. I just read your post I replied to. That’s on me. I am just shocked even more now that you don’t own a Lucid yet 🤔

Right, but then you’re in a model 3.
What a tragedy! 🤣 But seriously, isn't the Model 3 Highland supposed to actually be a decent car unlike its predecessor?

No problem, and sorry for the sarcastic tone! There are a lot of people who are (understandably) shocked by that, and the reasons for my message count (and why we don't have a Lucid right now) are likely very complicated!

@xponents - If you get the Model 3, make sure you get the free bumper sticker too!

Honestly, an used but recent Tesla M3, would be the most economical purchase. You could drive a very good deal for one...but it's no Lucid!😏

That’s true! I honestly do wonder which vehicle I would enjoy driving more, as they have very different characteristics. My understanding (which may be incorrect) is that the Lucid is planted, with great suspension, but due to its size is obviously not as “snappy.” In comparison, the Model 3 has FAR worse suspension, but also has a much quicker steering ratio and a smaller size (described as go-kart like). It is also obviously lighter.

I obviously haven’t test driven either, and what I said is probably wrong, but based on my sim experiences, I do like a snappy car, and I would greatly appreciate the steering ratio! Then again, you can’t really feel suspension dynamics in a sim, so that major advantage of the Air can’t be assessed. Has anybody driven both of them, and what are your opinions on the driving dynamics? Is what I said even correct?

And you might want to look into insurance costs as part of your decision...
That is fair, and my parents also brought that up. I assume the Tesla would be more than the Lucid, but the question is how much more? My parents are currently getting a “quote” for this.
