In my LGGT I found this. what is it for?

Probably packaging from a component they installed during manufacturing
 
Looks like a trim piece to me.
 
What part of the car did you find it in?
 
I think that's the same thing I found in mine a few weeks ago. Fount it in the driver seat foot well. I though it was a cover that came loose from up under the foot well (covering some wires), but when I went to put it back in, I couldn't see way for it to fit. Tried for a while and finally gave up.

yup that's it, orient the circle (light hole) and the rectangle (hvac? some accessory?) and it should just rest above some tabs
 
This prompted me to go try and figure it out again. I finally figured out which direction it fit. Was able to shove it back in. Don't know if it will stay. Anyone see any clips or screws that's supposed to hold it in? Seems super cheap and sloppy just trying to slip it in under the edges on each side and hope it stays there.

the black plastic thing just south of the light looks like a poorly designed panel clip, like a pinch clip that fits in the hole.

its crazy seeing how poorly trimmed out that piece is, like they didn't even spend 30 seconds removing the leftover fibers. Must be under enourmous time constraints at the factory.

There are clips. They may have fallen off with the panel.
 
Yikes, pieces not well secured in the driver's footwell could force another recall. I've owned many cars recalled for less!
