So I've struggling with slow wake up speeds for months, sometimes the app fails to wake up at all. It has improved lately after the 2.50 update and latest Android app update (on my Samsung phone) but still takes about 30s to wake.

However, last week I had the car at the service center for the annual service, I checked the app while I was at home, and the vehicle was awake in like 5 seconds. So I kept trying at different times, and at night when the center was closed to make sure it wasn't waking because they had it already open. And every time it was awake within 5 seconds. So I started thinking maybe the signal is better there, or they've done something to improve it. I get the car back and try to wake it at home and it takes +30s again (I try both wifi and 5g on my phone). I thought okay it's definitely the signal in the car (even though it's parked on the street with full 5g signal and not connected to wifi).

But no, I go out later with friends and the car is at home and the app wakes it up in 5s every time. So my conclusion is that for some reason it has something to do with the distance between the phone and the car (the closer they are the slower the wake up time) but it doesn't make any sense. Help me figure this one out!

Just to be clear, you're say the app has a slow wake up time with the car? Not when you're next to the car trying to open the doors. Specifically with the app?

If it's specific to the app, there are quite a few threads about the issues with the Android app for Lucid and the various issues with the wake-up times. I believe the common answer is open the app, force close the app, then open it again. The car is probably waking up quickly each time, there's something going on with it relaying that information back to your phone.

I've never had problems with proximity door unlock.

I use the app a lot to control the temperature before leaving the house. I know there are quite a few posts about slow wake ups but I'm trying to find out why it only happens in this specific situation.

I think what I'm mentioning is the answer. The Android app + car has weird wake up issues and it's more the app than the car. You can try the force close app and see if it actually is awake.

Since I have no idea how the app was designed and how it's supposed to communicate, there's no way to really troubleshoot why the specific scenario isn't working. If we had communication logs, we could figure it out to see if it's a coding issue or some sort of communication issue.

I've had the car far away and next to me and in both scenarios I've experienced both behaviors on wifi and 5g. My app more often fails than works. I have to do the force stop, reopen, and it will show proper status. Try what I'm suggesting on those long wake up times and see if it actually is working.

If I disconnect WiFi from my phone then the car wakes fairly quickly but not on WiFi. This was discussed here. You can get additional details by searching on this thread.

I don’t think there is a ryhme or reason on how WiFi is playing a role in delayed waking up the car.

Here's a detailed note I sent someone else recently. I suspect the last paragraph, about your 'home' wi-fi, may be the problem...

Assuming you have updated the app, and are running at least Android 12... I suggest that you open the app from inside your car. Click on the phone icon in the top right corner and click on 'remove vehicle'. Then, follow the steps necessary to re-pair the app with the car. These steps are quite clearly outlined. After you do that, delete and then re=pair your phone to the car. Last, for good measure, do a logo reset.

If you have an issue waking your car from the app when your car has access to BOTH wi-fi and the AT&T SIM card, you should turn off wi-fi in the car. You do not need to have both operating, and sometimes, the app has a problem when both are active.

Let me know if this helps. Good luck!

I observe the same phoenomenon, i.e., disconnecting WiFi on my phone makes Mobile Key work better/faster. But, as you said, there isn't "a ryhme or reason" why this should be the case. As a workaround, it might be "cute". But I am concerned that it is indicatnive of other problems.

My suspicion is that this "(WiFi/Bluetooth) contention is confounded in the Lucid computer/algorithm. This worries me even more than how fast the mobile key wakes up my car. I hope someone at Lucid is paying attention to these unintended phoenomena.

I never said my mobile key works better/faster. My mobile key has been flawless and works 9/10 and never have to open a mobile app except opening frunk or lets kids on before I can get to car (in this case, we are already outside and car wakes up fairly quickly).

I was talking about waking up car from home when I’m connected to WiFi to set the climate so that my kids are comfortable when I leave them to school at 7 AM in below freezing temperatures

Apologies for my misunderstanding.

If I understood you correctly, your mobile app, which connects via cellular, correct? And disconnecting WiFi makes it work better?

You are good. That’s correct.
However, I don’t have to open the app to unlock my car. Mobile key connects via Bluetooth on my phone. Now, it’s possible that iOS has better communication than Android. I don’t have experience with Android.

In my experience, my Apple app takes ages to connect to the car. Lucid dropped th eball on this one bigtime. I'm sure they fixed it in the 2025 vehicles.

Thanks for the calrification.

I have Andriod (Samsung S22 Ultra). I have to turn off the WiFi on my phone to use my Mobile Key. Something is not right!

Back to the OP comment about waking speed. Unscientific but more data. One of our cars is in Pennsylvania in a signal-limited area. The other is maybe 75 ft from me on the other side of the house connected to WiFi. The car in PA just took 32 seconds to wake on cellular only. No wifi. The car here near me took 6 seconds which is connected to WiFi.

I am far enough away from the car here that it’s been in deep sleep and hasn’t been pre-woke by my phone prior to the app trying to wake it. I verified this with the HA integration from @borski and @segbrk that both cars were sleeping before attempting.

I think this would rule out proximity and point more towards connectivity to Lucid servers.

That checks out. For wakeup / app usage the car needs to both be able to receive a text (so at least a little bit of cell service) and reach back out over the internet (so working LTE or WiFi).

You should not have to turn off wifi on your phone to use mobile key. It uses bluetooth, exclusively.
