Around 70% is owned by PIF and Uber. Leaves 30%. Of that, much less free float due to other institutions owning.

Hence the drastic movements in stock price. When it goes down, in drops hard. And the same in the other direction.

It definitely feels like Lucid has a new Daddy. And that’s a good thing. Pif is powerful but Uber gets things done and has software experience.

And the worst case previously was PIF hit writes off Lucid. Is the new worst case that Lucid completely casts off the consumer model and becomes the manufacturing partner of Uber, like Zoox or Waymo. Or am I crazy? I have a lot of faith in Dara and Uber. And they love a joint venture.

PIF actually has a larger holding in Uber than it does in Lucid. So Uber having an equity position of Lucid is effectively shifting funds from the right pocket to the left pocket. 🤷‍♂️

WOW! Where did you get the numbers?

Uber CEO is not stupid! PIF only owns 5% of Uber. They have no control over what Uber does.

You want rides, nothing beats the Uber app. The fact that they are willing to own 10% of Lucid is mega bullish. 70% owned by PIF and Uber, 10% other long term institutions, that leaves 20% free float?

1-2 good quarters and this stock rockets up. And it’s not like Lucid makes bad cars.

Never selling the stock!

Unrealized gains are just that - someday, I AM going to sell the stock, hopefully for huge realized gains. Damn, I hope so...🤪

Can someone enlighten me:
>Does Uber have ant VEHICLE engineering competency in self-drive vehicles? Ia m talking about hands-on experience.
>In contrast, Waymo developed at lot of those technologies. Yet, their partnership with Jaguar-iPace didn't benefit Jaguar much.
>aside from the PR value, in light of Lucid's current challenges, can Lucid afford this project?

I believe it was mentioned elsewhere, but I happen to agree: Lucid provides a world class vehicle as just that - a vehicle for which Uber has paid for; Nuro provides the software that drives the vehicle; Uber manages a fleet of owned vehicles for their own ride-hailing business. It seems to me that, albeit with much collaboration, each company is providing their own pieces to a puzzle that Uber will own.

Might there be a trickle-down benefit Lucid for their own ADAS purposes? Sure, but Uber is betting that people will use ride-hailing more and more amd people will use less personal cars. That may be 20 years out, but that it what long-term thinking is, at a minimum.

Appreciate your insight.

Putting words in your mouth:
> Nuro is the Waymo of Uber's self-drive competence.
> Lucid Gravity is Uber's luxury self-drive platform, Uber-Black-Diamond.
> the hope is, Lucid can learn something from Nuro to improve their DDPro in their mainline business

But, it will require Lucid to invest its engineering to make this happen.

Did I interpret you correctly?

For the most part, yes. Nuro is doing the heavy lifting on the self-driving engineering or development, because they have a contract with Uber to provide the software. Lucid will benefit from the development by Nuro software, with some version of it being packaged into Lucid customer cars. Lucid just has to make cars - Nuro will make those cars drive by themselves. For Uber, or for us.

They do also get an order for 35,000 vehicles. Plus a huge investment. Lucid even gets money to customize their cars for the customer. I don’t really see the downside.

Lucid mentioned it in their investor day, but they said they've learned about sensor optimization for L4 from their partnership with Nuro. That sensor suite for Lucid's L4 is said to be released in 2028 for their midsize vehicles. That is probably the extent of what Lucid will get out of it's relationship with Nuro unless they are willing to start providing a cut of their planned monthly subscription for ADAS, which seems highly unlikely.

I'm betting that the software running Lucid's L4 will come from Nuro, not in-house. "Do what you do well and contract out the rest."

Fair, but they've kind of already done that with their partnership with Nvidia. Do they really need another contract to cut into margins?

Hedging your bets, they call it...

You're absolutely right. Nuro runs on Nvidia DRIVE hardware and software. Both Nuro and Nvidia will be beneficial to Lucid, in one way or another. And, to each other.

So, let me re-place my bet. Nuro will be beneficial to the hardware for sensors and the way they interact with Nvidia's DRIVE processors and software, assisting Lucid vehicles drive L4.

Boy, doesn't it seem easy to just re-place a bet, after the fact? WIsh I could do that in the stock market!

Tesla robotaxi so far is a disaster…..good thing Lucid went with Uber.

Hope springs eternal 😀 From another hopeful Air & stock owner.
