I’m sure this is the case – if it was already perfect it would be hitting the market. This shows great progress and it’s only a matter of time before it will be available to the public.

Yeah, but that is expected. Still in early stages. But you can see how it navigated turns which is a good start.

Correct, this is like 1 year of testing and it can do point to point with supervision.

There's no way to know without access to insider data. Neuro's autonomous driving effort is considered highly credible within the industry, and they have already operated autonomous vehicles on public roads for cargo delivery without passengers. Because their efforts with Gravity are about getting an existing autonomous driving system to work properly with a new vehicle platform, and not developing an autonomous driving system from scratch, I'd expect them to make fairly rapid progress. But in the world of autonomous driving, "fairly rapid" can still mean years.
 
Looks like the test drive event took place at Nuro's HQ in Mountain View CA, and they drive around in that general neighborhood.

There are a batch of these Nuro/Lucids running around inner city areas of Houston doing testing. I saw a black one in Heights area this past weekend and my sister who lives in Montrose (both areas just west of downtown) has seen a white one most every day in her neighborhood.
 
InsideEVs did a good interview with the CEO or COO of Nuro here. It does sound like they have a pretty good handle on things, making steady progress and milestones.

Indeed. I live just down the street from Nuro's HQ and I recognize some of the streets in that video. We've always seen a lot of Nuros in our neighborhood but up until the last month or two they've mostly been Toyota Prius' (with a driver). A couple days ago I saw the same Nuro Gravity pass our house at least 10 times within 20 minutes but AFAICT it appeared that the guy in the driver's seat was actually driving. Some kind of testing going on, for sure. Here's a picture of it:

I just saw this other video posted a few days ago by Nuro that also implies they were testing in Mountain View but the landmarks I recognize in this video are actually from our neighboring community, Palo Alto!

Somewhere I read recently that around 90% (?) of the rides for ride services (Waymo, Uber, etc.) are single riders, so it is interesting to me that Nuro would have a pilot program with an SUV. I'm not complaining—it's a good thing for Lucid.

Yes I still think this is for Uber Black, or Airport executive trips, events and such. Every time I take an Airport limo for business, I get Navigator 8-passenger ICE vehicle to carry one person, but it is cushy...

Yes. Robotaxis are still expensive to develop from both a hardware and software perspective. It makes sense for them to start by targeting Uber Black XL and working towards Uber Black, then regular Uber as hardware costs come down and cross-vehicle software transferability is refined.
