Turning in Air lease early to buy Gravity

Has anyone tried or is thinking about turning in Lucid Air lease early to buy the Gravity? I'm 9 months into my Air Touring 25 lease, and my wife really wants me to switch to Gravity if possible. Curious if anyone tried something like this or have suggestions short of fullt paying out the remaining lease.

I owned my Air and traded it with Lucid to switch to a lease on Gravity. I’ll know in 3 years if that was a smart idea or stupid one with all the posts about the turn in process/costs

You got good value for your trade in? I'm leasing AT so it would be much more challenging to convince Lucid to let me turn it in early to buy the Gravity Grand Touring.

I wouldn’t say good but definitely got a little more than I was expecting.

The Natick Studio (manager and SA) was “promising” current Air lessees would be able to swap the Air lease for a Gravity lease, but we all know the reliability of car salesmen

I venture to guess impossible. Unless you agree to pay all your remaining lease payments to turn it in. The leases are owned by Bank of America (aka Lucid Financial) and not by Lucid. You SA must have been smoking something

Yes, the Lucid sales people have bad information or are making it up. There is NO current program that allows you to switch from a Lucid Air lease to gravity. I personally am super tired of the Lucid missinformation at the Lucid sales offices. They are terrible.

Must vary by region. My sales guy was good. Northwest.

This is why I’m asking if anyone has done this. Guesses are as useful as a Lucid Gravity keyfob right now

FWIW I just leased a Gravity and am current Air lessee (matures early December 2025). Lucid doesn’t give a rat’s ass about your loyalty. They wouldn’t even absorb one month’s payment. I didn’t expect nor assume they’d let me turn in Air early, but I comment because I agree that Lucid SAs frequently give bad information in an effort to make the process easier for them, rather than the customer.

In a similar vein, my SA assured me I would receive the loyalty credit. That wasn’t true. Lucid is making me report it as income and it wasn’t actually applied as a credit (due to fine print they say - but then the SA should know and not make promises he cannot keep).

Love the vehicles. Hate the buying process. It was terrible for my Air and terrible for my Gravity.

That’s the same response I’m getting, so it looks like they’ll have one less sale this year due to dishonest SAs.

Could you please provide more details on this? Is this how they handle the loyalty "credit" for everyone, or was it something particular to your lease(s)?

For the Gravity, yes, it appears that’s how they apply it. This is now the third person to post about it being done this way and no one (that I recall) has posted saying it was a legit credit off the price.

I am not sure if this is how they handle the “credit” for everyone.

The fine print says the vehicle must be on site. I had to have mine shipped (for which I paid $2000).

That said, before signing the lease, I asked my SA whether the credit which was shown would be honored. He said (in writing) “Yes, I can add loyalty incentive.” He also told me over the phone that it would be honored. As the days go by and we get closer to needing to sign the lease, with no credit being shown, and after a few frustrating email exchanges and phone calls, he says it is not possible as a credit, but rather, only as a “goodwill refund” that must be reported as income and would only be sent once I accepted delivery of the vehicle.

I accepted delivery and had to email my SA to inquire about the refund as he certainly didn’t initiate that process himself. Still haven’t seen it nor received an update from my SA.

Okay wait, just so you know, I went through a very similar thing and it WILL happen. It took about 2 weeks, and you will get an email from a different person in Lucid who will confirm your address, then you will get a notice of a payment sent and then you will get the check in the mail. It seemed somewhat informal and I didn't even get it on the "We Owe" either. If your SA's name sounds French then its the same guy i had and you have nothing to worry about.

So, not only is it not a discount, their loyalty credit has lessees paying extra in sales tax and income tax.

I don’t know for certain, just what folks have reported online. While it sounds less than ideal, they do explain it in the fine print which, for a huge purchase, I highly recommend folks read.

When I inquired as to the status of the goodwill credit, my SA responded with “I’ll look into it and let you know.” Two weeks later and not a peep out of him nor anyone from Lucid about the goodwill credit.

Not surprising given how terrible the buying experience was, but still frustrating that I have to put in all this effort to get (partially) what my SA and Lucid promised.
