I've had my AT for two weeks now and there are some 'problems' that I'm wondering if they are standard. I have the mobile service scheduled for tomorrow morning, but wanted to check real quick if all your cars are built this way.
1. If you hose the rear lights should the water go into the trunk? There is a gap between both lights and the metal part of the trunk. It seems like the rear of the car is an inch away from the lights. (I will add pictures)
2. If you press down on all the exterior black trims, they move, a few are quite lose. Should they move a bit? My BMW and Honda are firm. I'm wondering if lucid is built this way.
3. The trunk is off 1" to the left - this is know is an alignment problem.
4. Putting a little pressure on the silver trim part of the frunk will move it.
Heck I decided to play hockey from work to make the 1.5hr drive to a showroom to compare but got called back 😑
5. When you step on the gas/pedal is there some sound/friction I don't remember this during my test drive.

All those gaps exist on my car and every car I've seen, probably why washing it introduces so much water everywhere, except the interior!

All my trim pieces flex in when pushed but I haven't had any fly off or anything.

Hmmm that's a very bad design choice by Lucid. I expected EVs to be water proof or almost. Well thanks a lot for your response, I guess I won't have to argue with the mobile repair tomorrow.

As long as the important bits are waterproof it's fine with me! But I did hear that you could drove through water up the pilot panel and be fine...

The trunk is off 1" to the left - this is know is an alignment problem.
I was at the Costa Mesa event 3/31 and I asked Peter Rawlinson about the panel gap at the trunk. He immediately responded "it shouldn't be like that" and it went on the due bill. From my early days as a machinist, I still have my analog caliper. I measured the trunk panel gap at 0.2 inches at its widest, but other panel gaps that look big to me visually are 0.17 or 0.18. The DA said that the visual appearance is worse on a white car and that the other gaps were within tolerance, but I stupidly didn't ask what would be within tolerance.

As an aside, Peter Rawlinson was remarkably gracious and humble given all that he has accomplished.

How can we trust that the important parts are waterproof? I believe this is a design flaw that has been generally accepted. Look into the space between the top of the lights and the metal part... there is a rubber seal that really isn't doing anything - mine covers half the length of the light. When you drive on a rainy day or have the car washed where will all that water go? Do you believe the lights are sealed on the inside?

I don't technically know, just that after 1.5 years of ownership there haven't been any water intrusion issues. For how long, who knows, but my job is not car design so I leave that to the company from where I purchased my vehicle to have thought about that issue for me.

You get to play hockey at work?
