Too old to own an EV? Never

I saw this post in the "Lucid Motors Discussion Group" Facebook group yesterday.
It's quite an interesting story, to me at least.

Imagine your first car is a 1939 model and your latest car is a 2022 Lucid Air.

Is he near 100 years old “Young man in 1940”?
He should be an inspiration for generations of people out there complaining EV’s are hard to deal with. They will feel super duper dumb in front of him.

He just celebrated his "89th trip around the sun".

An inspiration? For sure.
If you join that Lucid Facebook group, he reposted his post from 2022 when he drove his Air cross-country.
Anyone younger than him should be ashamed of himself for complaining about EVs being hard to deal with.

Yes, they should for sure. Anyone that wants to advance they have to put some efforts. If cant put that effort they have no right to question the advancement.

I am 80 and I think EVs are at least as easy to drive as ICE vehicles with one possible exception. The push by automakers toward "minimalist" interior design is IMHO awful and has been used most often for EVs rather than ICE vehicles. At least for luxury vehicles, such as Lucids, give us buttons and switches for those things we might want to adjust while using the vehicle (seat controls, AC controls, etc.). So long as the car hasn't gone "minimalist", I think the EVs are easier to drive. If one wants to drive one pedal, it will take a little time but one is not forced to do that; one can still drive the car in the same manner as one drove an ICE vehicle.

The other caveat is account for muscle memory. For 100 years the turn signal control has been a stalk on the left side of the steering wheel. DON'T CHANGE IT. There is no reason to change the control. Window controls should be on the door. Windshield wipers on the stalk to the right of the steering wheel. Everyone benefits from being able to use muscle memory but that is especially important for senior citizens who have been using these muscles in that manner for far longer than millennials (e.g.). Change for change's sake is not always wise.
