I drove a Gravity that didn't have the HUD for three weeks and I missed it. It's one of those things you don't miss if you've never had it, but once you've relied on it, you don't want it taken away.
My own Gravity has the HUD and I've gotten used to keeping my eyes on the road. I had to look away from the road often for:
I did appreciate the reduction of reflections without the HUD. I know a lot of people can't stand the reflections, but for me, I'll take the HUD and reflections over not having the HUD.

- Speed & speed limit.
- Cruise control speed adjustment.
- DDPro engaged/disengaged.
- Navigation turn-by-turn direction.
- Navigation turn distance countdown - far less useful without the HUD as you can't afford to watch the countdown.
- Blind spot checking - can avoid checking if HUD indicators are lit.
