Here's an email I just received from Lucid:

lucid buy the vehicle you bought.webp

So they know full well I already bought a Gravity. It's the first thing they show me in this very email - the Gravity I have on order. Then they're like "The Lucid Gravity is great! You should buy one!"

I'm just confused what the purpose of this email is. I'm not complaining, I know email is practically free. I'm just genuinely confused why they're specifically targeting people who already like the Gravity enough to have already bought one, and trying to convince them it's a good car.

There is a large body of marketing research that shows the benefit of marketing one's product to recent purchasers. It also greatly reduces post-purchase dissonance.

I got the exact same email (but with my config) about an hour ago. I am still waiting (7 months) for my Gravity and not in production. I took it as a “This is a great car, don’t give up on us yet.” No more comments on the dumpster fire that is the Lucid pre-order system.

It is all about top of mind awareness, re-enforcing the sale and making it less likely that people will cancel their order. It is day 355 since I ordered but I am not really counting.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're feeling like they should remind owners of what's good about the car, given the online griping about the many bugs.

Interesting that Lucid is posting Edmunds 6 month old review that was based on limited “Press launch party” time in car and largely using Lucid published stats and did not use the recent review based on longer time and testing of Gravity that was not quite as favorable.

I got the same email and was first surprised they used the Edmunds review but I hadn't clicked through to see it was the older one, doubly weird.

When I saw my spec listed I had a moment of hope that it was a signal things were moving but sadly, no.

Ditto. Today was/is supposed to be the day for production start, but no changes on my dashboard or word from my SA confirming such yet.

I hope that you see good news later today on your production start.
