Cars
'25 AT Just ordered
A little backstory: I’ve been a disgruntled Tesla S owner for the past 15 months. Bought a 2021 with 14k miles in March ‘24 and every 3 months it was in for service. Last service and the deciding one for me was 2 months ago the HVbattery (essentially the heart of the car) just up and died. Out of the blue. No warning. Truth be told, originally, I wanted to buy a Lucid. But I had wanted to own a Tesla for years and thought I would give it a go. Lesson learned. When the Tesla was in the shop for the HV battery is when I decided I was moving on. At first I thought I’d go right to Lucid. But I started doing some homework and all the horror stories popped up and I got cold feet. I am committed to EVs (don’t want to go back to ICEs) so I shopped around. After about a month of hemming and hawing, I decided if I’m all in on EVs then suck it up and make the jump to a true EV - Lucid. It was somewhat an “ah ha” moment, kind of late at night, so i jumped on the website, saw what was available in 2 weeks and pulled the trigger.

So far, the process has been smooth. A slight hiccup with the leasing application, but it was remedied in 5 mins via a call from my SA, Bryan. There’s been frequent communication via calls and text messages and as of right now, I’m scheduled to pick up the car on Saturday. I am a tad worried that delivery might get pushed since the car arrives at the KOP center on Friday, but I can only control what I can control.

Fingers crossed it continues to go smoothly and I find myself enjoying the drive home Saturday afternoon in my AT.

Have fun! It seems like lots of the heartburn around buying right now are for folks who are custom ordering cars (plus of course those patiently or not so patiently waiting for their Gravity). I also found the purchase process of an already existing Air straightforward. To be honest, I liked it so much I have no plans to ever go to a traditional car dealer again if I can avoid it. The hiccup for me was in delivery when they only had one of the two keys for the vehicle. It turns out programing another key can be a real pain for an Air. I had to take it back for that, and drive a loaner for several days while they sorted it out. So, moral of the story, ask if they have both keys up front!

Honestly for me the whole buying process felt chaotic. I've bought plenty of new cars, but always from dealers. I bought a car once from a dealer in (or just outside) Philly while I was living in Toronto, but it was still from a specific dealer. Buying from Lucid and doing almost everything online (including the payments) I was always a little uncertain how things were going to work.

That being said, it all came together in the end and I took delivery of a Lucid Air (also at King of Prussia FWIW) at the date and time that was scheduled and the whole delivery process itself went off without a hitch.

The only advice I would give is to ask for a mobile charger at delivery. You have a $650 credit available from lucid with the purchase/lease, which is the exact price of the charger. They can't guarantee to have them in stock, but if they do have one they will give it to you right then and there (instead of having to order it online).

Good luck!

Just got home from picking up the cars, and the folks at the KoP site are top-notch. An absolute perfect experience. They were so accommodating; answered all my questions; let me pull off the plastic wheel covers and even installed the caps right there. Just as we were ready to leave, noticed a ding on the side of the rear door, and they jumped on getting it noted and setting up a body shop repair at my convenience. From Bryan, SA to Justin, Alex and Zach at KoP for the delivery, it was an incredibly positive experience. Hopefully the next 3 years maintains the same positive energy.

Welcome to the fold! As one of many folks here who graduated from a Model S, I'm sure you won't regret the decision.

(FWIW Airs are not without their HV battery failures - ask me how I know - but they do seem to be limited to a batch of earlier cars. And they took fantastic care of me when it happened)

Thanks! Hoping it turns into a long term, positive experience.
