San Diego Driver Killed in Accident

Funny how Lucid Air owners can't even tell what their own cars look like....those are definitely the 20" wheel option without covers, you can see the curved screen coming out of the windshield, AND most obviously are the vent cutouts.

That car is badly mangled. What I see coming out of the windshield is not identifiable as anything specific. And those appear to be aftermarket wheels. There are literally dozens of 5-spoke aftermarket wheels that look very similar.

Aftermarket wheels are a lot more likely than painting or wrapping a Zenith Red Lucid a different color and blacking out the door handles.

Actually, I haven't. One person asked me if it was the anti-Tesla.

Hard to believe, but I actually once had a car follow me out of a car wash to ask if the Lucid was a Rolls Royce. (I've known a few Rolls Royce owners, but never one who would take it through a car wash.) And I've had lots of people ask what it was. But no one has ever asked if it was a Tesla.

It's okay, we don't all have to be right on the internet today, this doesn't have to turn into a 4-page argument . . . .

And you've been a member of this forum for almost two years? 😉

Guys. The Model S door has a frameless window.

That window clearly has a frame.

I’ve changed the title of the thread for now because we do not have confirmation it is a Lucid.

There were actually two deaths, Abraham and Amanda.
Both were 22-year-old students at San Diego State University.
Such a tragedy. RIP.

Are you sure that was the same accident?

This was from a San Diego news report:

"Authorities said a Tesla was traveling on the transition ramp bridge from eastbound state Route 94 to northbound state Route 15 when, for unknown reasons, it swerved from the roadway and landed on an embankment below.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to render aid, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol officers searched the scene but did not locate any other victims."

Its.....so obviously and clearly a Lucid. The rims, the hood. The bottom of the door. The door handles. The....everything? Lol Strange this is turning into an argument haha. Someone died in the Lucid community. RIP

Lucid air door, accident image, Tesla S door above. Anyone still think it’s a Tesla?

I don't know what to think at this point. Lucids do have door frames, but they don't have body-color door handles (unlike Tesla's black handles), and the car in the photograph, which has a black handle, is not a Zenith Red. (I have seen and photographed our Zenith Red Lucid in all kinds of light conditions.)

And then there's the issue of the CHP saying the car in the accident being reported was a Tesla.

In light of @Gravitas 's post about what seems to be a different accident, I'm wondering if the news service didn't put the wrong pictures up with the story.

This photo reminded me of how much better I liked the interior of our 2015 Model S than our 2021 Model S . . . and also how the Air interior flows in some ways from that earlier Tesla aesthetic. Coincidence that this early Tesla interior was developed under Peter Rawlinson's oversight?

You are right. Same location, different accident.
This is definitely a problem area. Local jurisdiction should do something about it.
