We did our first fully loaded winter road trip with a roof box last evening in our seven seater GT with 20/21 inch wheels. We had five passengers totaling about 600 pounds, a Thule Motion 3 XXL Low roof rack filled to the brim with skis and gifts on top, more gifts and EV/vehicle equipment filling the frunk, and lots of luggage, ski boot bags, and even more gifts filling the back floor to ceiling with one third row seat down (for a 9 day trip to see family for Christmas and then ski for four days). The outside temperature was between 27 and about 35 during the entire ride and there was a light/gentle breeze most of the trip. We started the journey at 95% and ended at 24% driving 207 miles north on relatively flat, almost entirely highway driving with an average highway speed of about 69 mph for 203 of those miles. I used DD Pro most of the trip, had the ride height set to Low, drafted behind an 18 wheeler for maybe a quarter of the highway driving, and had the interior temp set to between 69 and 72 the entire ride. Kyle Conner got 401 miles total on a fully charged five seater on the same wheel setup, with about 20 miles of post zero percent range, or 5%(!) of his range after zero. Based on all of this, I estimate the trip would have given me a total range from 100% of about 306.8 miles, or a total loss of all of about 23.5% as compared to Kyle's range test. Not bad at all given the weather conditions, roof box, added payload (two more seats, four more people, and lots of luggage), and the fact that our vehicle started the drive with only 737 miles on the odometer. I noticed essentially zero extra road noise. We have another 208 mile road trip north into colder climes toward ski mountains on the 26th. I'll report back here on that trip, and the 411 miles trip back home on the 30th. Then we take the roof box off, remove most of the luggage, and take a 342 mile trip south on January 1 and back north on January 2. I'll report here on those too for some comparables. I'll try to keep my highway driving to similar speeds.
