Racoon ran in front of car...gonna be expensive

Other than the odor I'd say that I'd rather have hit the skunk (or more likely missed the skunk). Skunks have a much lower profile than a racoon and might not have caused any damage (ask me how I know this, it has to do with walking dogs)
Obviously a lower profile, but I'd say a much higher challenge of odor elimination.

From a repair cost perspective; skink
From a continuation of pleasurable interior space; raccoon.

Lingering, hard to remove skunk makes the BO car in the Seinfeld episode seem like a rose.

Unless the skunk lets go while your gravity was over the skunk the odor should not be a problem except for a few minutes. I saw a skunk waddling across the road once and was amazed how low profile it was (fortunately I saw the skunk before the dogs saw/smelled it so I could brace for takeoff, one time they saw a skunk and took off after the skunk and I wasn't ready and they ran after the skunk. The two dogs came after the skunk from opposite sides so at least only one dog got sprayed, but the spray was a direct hit to the face)

Insurance?

Hitting an animal is considered the animals fault just FYI
And it certainly did not yield to cross traffic! lol
Wish all of the cameras would have recorded it, maybe I could sue ???
