2023 Air Touring
Just purchased a pre-owned 2023 Air Touring in Quantum Gray...love the paint/finish but am curious if anyone can share their experience in caring for this paint. Anything special I need to do when washing it? I know how to use the two bucket method.

Has anyone waxed this? If so, what was your experience? See lots of detail tips on the forum but nothing specific about the quantum gray. I am just nervous to do anything that could ruin this awesome look.

How about clay? Anyone use a clay bar or one of those wash mitts with the synthetic clay on it?

Does putting a ceramic coating on change the look?

Appreciate the thoughts in advance.

Congrats on the purchase!
I got my 2025 Air in June, also Quantum Grey and love it too.
I wash it at home about once a week using a foam cannon attached to a regular garden hose. To clean the car I’m a fan of the ceramic shampoo from Ethos, and once a month I use Ethos’ ceramic finish V2.0 to keep it looking glossy. I did not have the car ceramic coated and even so I’ve been happy with the results, but I may get it coated in the future. From what I found out online, a ceramic coating does not change the car’s color, but boosts reflectivity and vibrancy, especially on darker colors like ours.
My car is kept in a garage, which helps to keep it looking clean.
I used a clay bar on my previous car (Black 2022 Lexus ES350) and it did certainly made it shiny but was a lot of work. 🤣

Thanks ADC, appreciate you sharing. Mine looks much more matte than your pic...much lower gloss and I am so curious if all my detailing tricks and product that I've used for years on more normal paint/finishes are still ok to use. Based on what you've described, I tend to think so but I am nervous. I remember when some of the high-end matte paint jobs came out a few years ago form some of the higher-end German manufacturers and everyone said they were so easy to screw up

@sdh1123 Your car sounds like it has had a matte wrap applied to it. Lucid doesn't sell any matte finishes from the factory. Most likely, a matte paint protection film has been applied over the paint. Check with a local detailer to see what they recommend.

Keep in mind that most wash products and after wash detail sprays have lots of gloss enhancers that give that final pop.
If you add them on top of ceramic coatings, the effect is even greater.

Upon a much closer inspection my car does have a film/wrap on it!

The car also has a glossy black vinyl sticker applied to the normally chrome c-pillar of the glass roof option

If you have the time and inclination I find that clay baring you car does nothing but good. On picking up my Air Touring on the 22nd I was informed " it's just been detailed". Yes it looked good but when I ran my finger lightly over the hood I could feel my finger " snagging". So I did what I do with all my cars. Picture on the right / bottom is an unused clay bar and the other is after clay baring my new Detailed Air. Please zoom in.

I believe that you can clay bar a wrap but not ALL are suitable. There are lots of informative videos made by professional detailer to refer to out there. Bear in mid that its a long process and may take 3-5 hours including washing and drying off the car first.

The car is quantum gray OEM paint and has a matte gray wrap on top of it. It also has a black vinyl sticker over the chrome c-pillars
