"Pull Forward" Call From Lucid

Tesla disrupted an industry that needed disruption. And you’re right, dealers are still mad about their model. Customers seem pretty happy though.
I gave my employee a promotion to managment and went to a Honda dealer to lease her a new car. I went in with exactly what I wanted, and had leased probably 5-10 vehicles there over the years. It was a Larry Miller, but they got sold.

Anyways, they pulled all the shady BS, made me "sign off" that the rep had offered me a non-factory lease because "they aren't supposed to sell factory leases". They put my employee in "her new car" for an hour, and then claimed they couldn't figure out how to honor the factory lease I wanted. Typical BS. I literally opened my Tesla app (I already had a Tesla), in the Honda dealer, leased myself a new Model Y and gave her the office Lexus (bonus for her!) and walked out of the dealership. It was absolutely absurd.

AutoNation lol I bought a BMW from them a few months ago, what a nightmare of mismanagement that was.
The AutoNation stores like everything else are as good or bad as the local management team. When my friend Pat a car guys car guy ran a local AutoNation BMW store they were great. He’s been gone for awhile so idk if they still are…

Well if it was Roseville then no.

That sounds terrible! I feel your pain. I bought my daughter a car last year. I’m usually a lay down as I just don’t want to waste the time. We had everything worked out. Went into the box-FI- and got the hard sell on all kinds of worthless warranties that I told them I wasn’t interested in before we started. What blew up the deal was when I said no again to everything and I kid you not the FI woman said “you must not love your daughter” who was sitting next to me. That was it, the red mist appeared and I had to leave before something bad happened. Drove 30 minutes and got the same car elsewhere.

Many dealers just can’t get out of their own way. And it’s not just the commodity dealers, try buying a new or used Porsche GT car. They’ve adopted the Ferrari strategy of abuse, humiliation & torture. I’m convinced that their clients enjoy this and or see it as some badge of honor to brag about. I used to work in the business. Trouble is all my connections are selling and retiring. Now I’m just treated like any other schmuck. Next car I buy I’ll use a broker. It’s just not worth the hassle.

The sales lady was mortified. She had worked there before Larry Miller sold to Auburn and started hiring sleazebags.

Great points...as much as dealerships suck, they at least provide easy servicability. But dealerships dont make sense for EVs. Dealers make money off servicing. These cars hardly need servicing. Of Lucid was to go the delaership route, they wouild lose more money on the cars they are selling due to much higher dealer markup compared to ICE vehicles.
Unless perhaps Lucid would allow a multipoint franchise.

The Mormons made out like bandits! They did well with that sale! (LHM)
3 billion I heard. My buddy works there and they were amazing to work for he said. They paid for college for all kids of all employees, great benefits etc. yeah Asbury cut all that right away, ruined the dealership experience and are trying to sell it now is what I heard. The Millers sold the Subaru dealership to their most tenured staff and the staff own it now. I thought that was a nice gesture.

The Millers are LDS for sure, but unlike a lot of them they didn’t discriminate against non LDS and always used local business regardless of religion. They will be missed.

Indeed, they also owned the Utah Jazz, movie theaters, etc. Big positive impact in the Salt Lake area.

HAHAHAHA PERHAPS INSTEAD OF TAKING THE COMPANY PRIVATE THEY SHOULD CONSIDER SELLING DEALERSHIPS?? Perhaps Direct to Consumer ISNT the way to go??? ((Oh that is going to trigger some responses)).... However hear me out, There is a lack of customer service when you dont have dealers... There is NO RUSH on ANYTHING to solve problems usually....No customer service. NO ASS KISSING.... Just look at Tesla and Rivian... The lack of customer service within those companies is BONKERS... THAT WOULD INSTANTLY CHANGE WITH A DEALERSHIP. WE LOVE TO A$$KISS! With a dealer step there are NO CARS SITTING AT PORT NOT SOLD They are all sold to dealerships and sitting on their lots, THEY need to figure out how to move them. The manufacture has an additional revenue stream with flooring the cars on a credit line for the dealers. Everyone wins (except for the small group of former Saturn owners that think car dealerships are filled with criminals and cheats... the "BAD GUYS"
This is 100% the opposite of my experience. And to say "the small group of former Saturn owners that think car dealerships are filled with criminals and cheats"...is just bonkers. The vast majority of the public detest dealerships.

Look at Porsche, you need to literally beg them and spend 500k on their cars before they would even consider you for a GT3…..and Ferrari has a bigger snout…Porsche in big trouble, Ferrari will be next in a decade…bye bye ICE cars

Porsche in big trouble
Which is crazy to say but it’s true. The penultimate sports car brand finally flew too close to the sun.

Ferraris (or, “Rari’s”)have just been rapper and tech bro cars for years now anyways they aren’t even that exciting anymore.

You are confusing F cars with Lambos. 😜

@Macrocosmcwh Are you the "finance guy" at a dealership? I actually enjoy the initial price negotiation with the sales person, that is where all the fun is. I absolutely detest the finance office process (not the person) and all the hard sell on extended maintenance, paint sealant, prepaid warranty, etc. I know what I want, and don't want, don't hold me hostage in that office trying to pile on profit at the end of deal.
