China has brought this on to themselves. Their insistance that any data accessed by a Chinese company be accessible by the government if asked has made the purchase of any internet connected device designed and built in China, very risky. In addition to the spying capabilities, there is the possibility of bricking certain products or having your Chinese ADAS system drive you off a bridge. Companies like Apple get around this restriction by having the chips and software be designed/manufactured outside of China and just use China for final assembly.
There is also the issue of the heavy subsidizing of the EV industry by the Chinese government. They are not doing this to give Chinese citizens access to cheap EVs, but rather make the rest of the world reliant on their cheaper EVs and then when the competition is driven out of the market, raise prices because they control the market.
Got no problem with buying cheap clothing from China but need to give serious thought before buying an internet connected device made or designed there.
