i like my air but presently bored so heres my short list of things that bug me.
1. the door doesnt stay open..stronger detents please
2. always hit my head in and out
3 have to open front door before i can open back
4 same for trunk
5 center armrest covers sliding handle when its open..need to pick up armrest to get to it.
6 no trunk open button next to frunk button
7 4 wiper buttons poorly placed. stalk please
8 steering wheel volume button delay
9 hit my head on open trunk
10 too easy to hit wiper turning on turn signal
11 nap time

Great list. Totally weird that frunk button is on left panel but not trunk. If only one fits there, it should obviously be the trunk!

I think you only need to open front door to open trunk or rear doors if you have proximity off (which I do since it was totally useless when the car is parked at home near the owner's phone or key and constantly unlocks). That problem belongs on the list and hopefully can be resolved via software update to leave car unlocked at home.

3 if cars locked you need to push drivers handle first, then you can open passengers. why not make passengers door same.

You know if you keep hitting your head; you may have to have it examined someday?

My app opens the door automatically as I approach my Air. I don’t need to push the handles. That’s from any door either side. Same with trunk. I might have to wait like 2-4 seconds max sometimes if not on approach. Are folks having to depress the door handles every time?

Also, i strongly prefer the wiper buttons on the panel and not on the stalk. My wife does too. It’s great to see the options in that way I think. Also, I have never mistakenly hit the wiper button while activating the turn signal, not sure maybe it’s height or driving position related?

Help me understand 7 & 10. On 7 you ask for the wiper controls to be on the stalk. On 10 you say it's too easy to activate the wipers when using the turn signal stalk.

a. if you dont activate auto close or open then if you are near the car you can press handle to open doors. auto open kept opening doors every time i got near it. went manual
b. i hate the wiper buttons..too distracting.plus you have to think too much..slow wipe, fast wipe, or do i use the two buttons to adjust speed. twisty stalk makes it easy. the stalk wiper button is too sensitive. and it only wipes once or squirts if you push down, as you know...

which is funny, because pressing the handles on my car doesn't wake it up or anything. I do have phone as a key though.

I've got around a 50/50 chance of the car responding when I push my handles. I agree with billy, the auto open was more of a nuisance than was worth so I have it set to manual.

100% agree with the wiper buttons as well. imho critical driving functions like wipers/lights/etc should be physical buttons, be it a stalk or whatever. stabbing at a touch screen hoping it registers your input as intended without any feedback isn't ideal in a dynamic scenario like driving.

The Tesla verison is way worse, they did an update where now the volume wheel controls the wiper speed, but it automatically pops up if you touch the wiper stalk. So many times I have cranked up the useless wipers instead of my jams.

Billy: I had to laugh at this...especially the door detentes. This has become my number one pet peeve. I am so glad I am not the only one. I have thought I need a puppy on a stick that I can jamb into the gap between the door and the A pillar to hold the door open while I try to get my foot in or out.

Maybe a baby seal would be less likely to get the attention of the aspca. As it's much colder now (in PA) it takes me longer to get my foot in...my arm is not long enough...I've thought to tie a length of rope to the door to haul it on in after entry.
This is why I did not buy a Lamborghini.

I have a permanent bruise on my head after three years of Air ownership. Each entry is three hits: one getting in, one reaching out to retrieve the door, and the third bringing my head back in. I am too fat to duck. I am also about your age.
The other items I have gotten used to.
I almost always do the wipers when I do the turn signal.
Approaching the car from the rear it almost always stays locked. I too took a long time to realize that only the driver's door handle press will wake the car. I broke the passenger side door handle trying to press it to unlock the car = don't do this. I blamed the wife.

love the car. best car I've ever had, by far.

i finally trained my dog to push the door shut after i got in and to jamb his head into the hinge to stop it from closing on me .its brutal.. i'm on my third dog. i wasnt bald before i got the lucid..i used to find big hair clumps on the door frame. love this car

Maybe it's because there is a button to open the trunk... at the trunk. But there's none at the frunk.

I keep my grocery bags in the frunk. I use that button all the time; the trunk less so, so I don't find it particularly inconvenient that I have to go to the center console to open the trunk when I'm in the car.

Being conscious of having to fold myself enough to avoid bumping my head on the door frame is now (mostly) a habit. Along with putting my hand on my hat to keep from knocking it off.

I have found that head bumping is directly related to the height I have set the driver's seat. Lower, no bumps. Higher, concussion city.
