I'm where Joe is. Initially, I compared the Touring to the Pure but the glass canopy was something that interested me. I sat in a GT at the Scottsdale showroom and really liked the openness. My wife was impressed with it, too, and cars simply don't impress her. I didn't like the elevated floor for the rear, but I don't intend to sit back there so that was a non-issue. I own a 2008 Challenger SRT with 425hp at 4,140 lbs curb weight. Ratio of 9.74lbs/hp. 0-60 in 4.3 secs. Touring weighs in at 5,236 lbs. At 620hp, that translates to 8.45lbs/hp. Plus, the linearity of an electric motor gives it a better acceleration profile, as evidenced by the 0-60 numbers (3.2 secs). GT numbers are even better but to me they are not the issue. My main interest is in how the Lucid performs in the real world, especially tracking in turns, over uneven pavement, etc. The Challenger is a beast but handles like a boat, compared to our 2015 MiniCooperS, which is actually our favorite car to drive (so far). Our long-range vehicle is a 2018 Lexus RX450h.

The one thing that made me consider the GT was the range. In my younger years, that would have made the difference. Now, range anxiety has been replaced with kidney anxiety, so the range has become irrelevant for me. I don't see a difference between 620 and 800 hp. The 0.3 seconds difference from 0-60 will be eclipsed by my reaction time (or lack of it at my age lol!).

The price difference between a T and GT will pay for our next cruise. Joe said it best for me. Almost equates to $18K.

Caveat: I have a test drive this weekend in Scottsdale. Also, the SA will probably tell (upsell) me the differences between the T and GT. Like how much better the interior is, etc. Depending on what mules I drive, I may have a different point of view come Monday!

I’m pretty sure pre hike the difference between fully loaded touring and GT is closer to 27k btw…
~112k vs 139k.

About the two interiors.

My thinking is that for a 4800 pound car, 480 HP is more than sufficient unless I am going to track the vehicle (which I am not). Living in Scottsdale, I have no need for all wheel drive and I prefer the way a rear wheel drive car handles. Because of the heat here, I also prefer a metal roof. So unless Lucid decontents it a lot, I am in for the Pure (I am fine with no rear shades and no seat ventilation; I have both currently and rarely use them), Range is important to me so I am also fine with the 19" wheels but I do expect the official range to be the previously estimated 400 EPA miles (I know I won't get that but the same reduction will apply to every BEV). I figure that will give me a normal range of around 240 miles (400 X 0.8 X 0.75) which should work for me.

I was originally a Touring reservation then changed to the Grand Touring pre-price hike: Zenith Red, 21" inch -> 19" inch (if possible without affecting price), Tahoe

Background:
- Lucid will be the first EV. Our current car is a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 18'

Here were the reasons:
- We want all of our cars to eventually be EVs. Other EVs on the market did not have a real appeal, so we decided at the time to plan long-term on purchasing two Lucid Airs.
- Before the change, Grand Touring did not make sense at the time from a financial standpoint. A Touring would be my wife's car since she did not care about the additional options, glass roof, etc.
- Before the change, I wanted to see how the company handled the build quality and production issues.
- Price increase "forced" our hand. Grand Touring became feasible pre-price hike, but post-hike meant waiting a few more months.
- Hopefully, the price hike built in a buffer for depreciation.
- Long term plan became much more expensive with Touring pre-price hike and Grand Touring post-price hike a few years down the road with taxes, price increases, and possible future price increases
- Wife has drifted to wanting either a Rivian or Gravity to replace the Hyundai for the utility and room (Gravity specific). She is not a car person, so the appeals of performance, handling, and so forth do not affect her decision.
- Ultimately, the Lucid is to be my daily driver, so we shifted some plans to accommodate as this has been my dream car for a while. Getting exactly what I wanted rather than a Touring for my undecided wife for the price point made the most sense.
- Long trips into places with little to no charging stations meant more range provided a greater sense of comfort and confidence.

We confirmed our order on July 30th, so it is fair to say I was amongst the very last to confirm pre-price hike. All the better in my mind for any quality issues to be sorted out. I do not mind the extra time to put down a larger downpayment since I am financing.
