New one for me. Woke up to two app notifications on my phone that the passenger door is open from overnight (1-2am). Checked the car, door closed and locked. Our garage and door both have logs, neither has been opened overnight.

I have two theories. 1) This is temperate change related as last night was the first below freezing here, maybe contraction causing a sensor to go off? 2) The notification was hours or even days old.
 
I had a false door open alert last week, the night after I updated the car to 2.8.9. It hasn't happened again.

Yes. I have had false window open alerts several times via the app. Usually, they’re triggered when I try to pre-condition car and it warns me a window is open - but it never is…freaks me out as rain would mess up the leather, so I check it every time.

Hadn’t happened in a while but then happened a couple of times last week.

This happened to me this morning when I pre-conditioned SMH :)
 
Precondition triggers would definitely seem to imply there is temperature sensitivity in the sensors. I wonder if that explains a lot of the weird false errors as the car boots and tries to do various temperature management things.

Hmmmm. I don’t think there’s any temperature sensitivity when it tells me my windows are open when I try to precondition. It just thinks windows are open. It did it again tonight. It does know the interior temp, but I can’t think of any error I’ve seen that relates to temperature sensitivity. I may be misunderstanding your post…

I am naive about how they work, but my theory was door/window/other sensors are working off of some type of contact system and that expansion and/or contraction was causing them to get too out of alignment and trip the sensor.

Interesting. I think my window sensor “issue” is probably related to the seals somehow stopping them from getting 100% but they close enough to not automatically come back down. IDK.

I have noticed the window issues are less common in cold weather - which I chalked up to the seals shrinking a bit in cold and so not interfering as much.

It’s not a huge issue except for the ONE time it was right and I didn’t check after alert fatigue and it DID rain into one of my windows…

Hmm... I guess everyone would be a +1 to adding open/close windows to the app?

You CAN vent them and then close from app, but whenever I get the “windows open” notification, they usually appear closed in the app…so I can’t put them up.

Good to hear it as I only have the Air and that's not a current option. Just a thought, have you tried to "vent and close" in the app to make the notification go away? Kinda like I open and close the doors via the app to reset them after getting the warning that passive unlock has been turned off.

I don’t think I have. I will try next time I get the message. Thanks for the idea.

Yeah something like seals shrinking is more what I was thinking of.

Also, alert fatigue is pretty close to the top of my overall complaints.
