On the fence

But showing Cosmos can initiate some discussions and little bit move the negative stuff we see when you search for car. I have two of my friends who like Gravity and not moving forward just because all they see in the initial internet search about is bankruptcy .
If they show and talk about Cosmos and still work on it behind, that will put some some negativity out of the site.
I think with some Gravity owners experiencing the odd window problem, service delays, and PAAK not ready to ship, introducing Cosmos now might just invite further media comments from the disgruntled, the bitter and the abrasive about Lucid not having their act together. There are at least five on this forum alone that I'd bet money on for this.

Exactly. Better to have the behind-the-scenes sorted out before you get more eyes on you with Cosmos.

No business continues investing in things that aren’t profitable. I love my Air and hope that they continue improving it, but most likely it will never be profitable due to limited sales, mainly due to price point. All things come to an end. Hopefully with Air it’s not soon, but will certainly happen.

Didn't Napoli say to an interviewer that they had additional investments/capitol lined up? I think he said something about it making current investors happy, ie not a dilution.

Like Peter/Mark saying we have lot if OEM’s lined for the tech and in final stages of contracts 😂
Yes i totally believe it 🤣

I feel like they're causing a Streisand effect by making such a big deal about serving papers to that Portugese turd with an unimportant blog. I fear that a lot of people who hadn't heard of Lucid are now painfully aware that Lucid is on such thin ice that a rumor about their imminent bankruptcy was immediately believable. They should have just let it die.
They couldn’t have let it die, most likely, as it had such a major effect on the stockholders and share price. It wasn’t just an arbitrary time to sue; he had materially hurt the company and shareholders this time.

Hi,
I’ve been a huge Lucid supporter for years. I own a 2022 AGT, stockholder, and run a large Lucid facebook group. I’ve people for years that Lucid won’t go bankrupt. They have tons of PIF funding. Saudis are building Lucid factory and a tech city around it.

I’m thinking of trading for the Gravity.

Now I’m starting to have second thoughts. Sales aren’t there. The future seems to be Cosmos. Could Lucid go the way of Tesla and eventually abandon the high end and just produce model 3/Y type cars.?

Will the Gravity be their last luxury car?

Thoughts?
Forget about the sales numbers for a moment. Haven’t you had enough personal trouble with your 2022 Air GT? I’m genuinely curious—have you heard about the Gravity’s reported issues?

I also own a 2022 Lucid, and my experience has been plagued by so many problems that I don’t even want to consider buying another Lucid. Customer service and technical support seem completely overwhelmed, with endless calls, repair backlogs, and frustratingly long waits for appointments and parts.

My honest advice: run, run, run. And don’t blindly trust glowing recommendations from people who may be paid to promote Lucid. I am worried what I will do with my Lucid wnen they close the doors.

Solid advice ^
It is what it is
Loved driving my car and the range way too many minor issues that constantly kept going on. After a year I had enough of it.

Rivian is cranking out R2s which apparently would be profitable from the start. The R1 is still selling quite well (and outselling the Gravity YTD). They have financial partnerships with VW, Amazon and now Uber - with their deal for the R2 worth more than the one with the Gravity. Their financials are almost strictly better on paper. So is their software. They also have way more service centers and showrooms that are expanding monthly. Lucid vehicles may be BETTER but I'd argue the ownership experience of a Rivian is better overall.

As for build quality, that is a matter of opinion, but for the price point, it is above average. My wife has a new Model Y Performance and it is a better vehicle than the R2 IMO but for those seeking an alternative and want nothing to do with Elon, the R2 is the only true other game in town. For under $60k, the R2 and MY Performance are absolute bargains for all that they offer.

Product quality goes a lot further than material choices and fit and finish. Software, availability of service, reliability and company stability also factor in. You can dislike the Rivian vehicles, but the companies aren't even in the same conversation anymore. Rivian said R2 will be released in 2026. It's here and being delivered every day. We don't even have a picture of the Cosmos yet. I just don't see how one can be more worried about Rivian than Lucid - and this is coming from a fan of both.
Man, those cartoon lights, makes me vomit…….and the lazy design, just copying the R1, poor efficiency, poor ride and handling. And who goes off road anyway, 5% of those who buy them!

Want to ride horse, buy a Rivian…..that’s what my test drive felt like.

And that model Y that you praise, bind spot video in the wrong place, no info in line of sight, no stalk to change drive, no parking sensors, no Lidar, no passenger lumbar support, no Apple CarPlay, poor quality, crappy ride and handling. Got a loaner recently, I was surprised how bad it was.

The problem with trying to update the Air (and even the Gravity) is that even small updates would add on to the R&D costs of the vehicles that they're still losing money on every unit sold with little to no return on investment. Both of those vehicles need to move to the Cosmos zonal architecture to greatly cut down on the cost per unit. Cosmos uses 3 ECUs and far less wiring. Gravity has 12 ECUs. Air's number is unpublished but I imagine it's even higher than Gravity.

But those massive architectural changes would require an even larger up-front investment (R&D plus production line changes) that Lucid does not have the money for, and they would have to sell even more units to just break even.

Unless there's a massive influx of cash from the PIF (or the Cosmos and Earth are massive successes), the Air and Gravity might just putt along until they get canceled.

There a creative ways to get more funding without dilution….especially when you have an oil rich country baking you.

Won’t get cancelled, but significant redesign 4-5 years away for the Air. I’m sure they won’t abandon it. It’s their halo car. And, Air will take market share from German executive saloons. Might take a few years before and significant increase in Air sales.

I’m sorry to hear about your problems with your 2022 AGT. Except for some minor rattling behind the rear seats (which was fixed by mobile service), I’ve had basically no issues.

I love my Lucid. It’s an amazing car. Except for software issues that were updated OTA, it’s amazing.

Has it been perfect, No. When it first arrived, much of the software had delays and lags. Most were fixed with the first 2-3 updates.

I’m not running away!!!

He did say something about making current investors happy - but he stopped short of how. He did not say there wouldn't be dilution.

There are many here (and many elsewhere) who do not have issues with Gravity. Just because some did does not mean all do.

I also own a 2022 Lucid, and my experience has been plagued by so many problems that I don’t even want to consider buying another Lucid.
I also own a 2022 Lucid, and my experience has been quite painless. In fact, we’ve greatly enjoyed both vehicles.

Customer service and technical support seem completely overwhelmed, with endless calls, repair backlogs, and frustratingly long waits for appointments and parts.
This does seem to be a current problem. But these problems are unlikely to last forever.

My honest advice: run, run, run. And don’t blindly trust glowing recommendations from people who may be paid to promote Lucid.
Nobody here is paid to promote Lucid except those who work for Lucid (and are tagged as such). Please do not insinuate otherwise; it demeans others’ opinions and is misinformation regardless. Argue using logic, not ad hominems.

Sorry your experience hasn't been good. As I've mentioned too many times, my 2022 Air never needed an unscheduled maintenance visit in the 3.5 years I owned it. My five-month-old Gravity has had zero problems other than a few software glitches before the 3.6.0 OTA.

Lucid is definitely not paying me. At times I've been very publicly critical of their software engineering - their choice of navigation software provider in particular. I'm optimistic overall now that I've lived with Lucid's newer software on Gravity, and hopeful about the coming UX3 on the Air.

My perspective comes from managing hardware and software engineering at several of my own complex physical-product startup companies over a period of 30+ years.

I test drove an R2 yesterday. Have test driven Gen 1/2 R1S also. I’m more concerned about Rivian than I am Lucid at this point. The product quality isn’t even close. The R2 ride and interior quality were abysmal. Seats were terrible. You could tell it was tossed together on the cheap.
Plus the best you get, according to car and driver site, is 345 miles of range (I assume that to be 100% EPA range) when R2 is new, all for about 55Kish out the door. That is ho-hum range, very uninteresting, definitely not a game changer.

Snip

Why should I believe you over anyone else? How do I know your reasons for your post? Short seller?

I can only tell you based on my experience coming from a model s then model x (still have the x). The gravity is the best car I have owned. It drives amazingly, the way they've managed the space is ridiculous. And the efficiency is awesome (near perfect on our 2k+road trip through Colorado). I had test driven the air before, but for our family knew we needed any SUV. While I liked the air I wasn't blown away by it. I did put in the pre order for the gravity, but always thought I would cancel until I drove it. I was blown away by the gravity and felt it was more impressive than the Air. I have been overall very happy with my purchase and it continues to improve (as did my model s and x). As I have stated before, no car is perfect, but I do love how these cars continue to improve. Will there be minor issues that pop up? Sure, but Lucid has done a good job of addressing them in my situation, mostly with updates. I personally would highly recommend the car to anyone.

As far as survival of the company, if there are investments occuring on the personal side by the Saudi princes (outside the PIF), I would take that as a strong indication of their support!
