Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe says too much of the focus is on the price point of China's EVs. Instead, he said more attention should be given to their technical specifications. Rivian strives to compete in this area, even if it does not sell its EVs in China.
That being said treating the Chinese EVs like one big monolith is also not really a thing. There are 100 OEMs, maybe 12 are legit and it is true their low costs are 100% to do with Govt support, China Supply chain scale and generally low costs of living/no inflation rather than any technology or driving performance advantage (range, efficiency, handling or acceleration).
