Internet connectivity has been the only ongoing issue with my 23 AWD Pure. Today though was different, yet interesting and left me scratching my head. Coming home with my wife in the car, I lost SXM and was prompted with the infamous ‘something went wrong/loss of internet/trying to reconnect’ message.

I switched to FM which worked immediately as expected, but my wife decided to try Tidal. I told her she was wasting her time with no internet since Tidal required the same internet connectivity as SXM. However as soon as she switched, Tidal began playing. Huh? So I immediately tried SXM and was greeted with the same no internet prompt. Switching back & forth yielded perfect reception on Tidal yet no connection with SXM.

I’m totally stumped as I seem to recall both are lost with no internet. Has anyone experienced this or can offer an explanation?

I get that sometimes with Sirius and tune-in. Sirius may have streaming issues. Does it use more bandwidth? Idk

You would think Tidal has the need for greater bandwidth being less compressed than SXM.

I am always left wondering if this internet issue is nothing more than AT&T and the data plan Lucid chose. Many of these 3rd tier cellular companies like Mint Mobile etc., advertise they use the same ‘big boy’ carriers (AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile) but do it cheaper. Yes they do, but they don’t tell you your data plan puts you at the end of the data line with those major carriers. So when there’s system congestion your data slows significantly.

The same type of cheaper plan, putting you at the end of the data line during peak congestion, can be had directly with the major carriers for less than their top tier plans. I have noticed that I rarely lose SXM and/or internet on weekends when system traffic is the lightest. So I bet Lucid opted for a cheaper data plan.

I would welcome the opportunity to either choose a better plan out of my own pocket or a different carrier.
